walk with my daughter with about a 1/4 mile run thrown in.

Wasn't sure what I wanted to do today. Only had one package of shot bloks, so I figured I should not go more than 16. Started out and body was pretty tired. I decided that was a good thing because it meant I worked hard yesterday. Got to 8 mile mark and it was so beautiful out that I kept going and hoped that the lack of nutrition wouldn't bite me. I rationed my package of 6 shot bloks into 3 servings of 2 (instead of the normal 3). I was hungry, but it turned out to be sufficient. Decided to negative split and kick it up a notch for return trip. At mile 13, I decided to really push the pace and try to get overall pace under 9m/m. Felt good and strong and much better than on way out. Really pleased with this strong finish!

Hey, not bad. Pretty humid out there. Legs felt fine, but my heart and lungs were screaming at me. Ran the whole thing (including 'gut buster') briefly stopped at water stations to get water because I was quite thirsty.
30th overall (out of about 180, I think). 6th in my age group. 3,4,5 & 6 were all within a minute of each other...should have dug a little deeper. Although some guy was on my tail for last mile and I pushed to stay in front of him (turns out he was in my age group too)

  • RACE DAY: Colorama 10K at Lapham Peak
Once again, I find myself very excited to do a race. I have wanted to do Colorama for a number of years, but it always falls on Lakefront Marathon weekend. This year no Lakefront for me (kind of missing it now) so I can do Colorama. Rain is forecast and I am actually hoping that is true. I think slop and rain and a little misery will add to the fun!
