Plan was to head to track for speed session, but work got in the way again. So when I got home decided to take a 'quick' run. With all the sluggish runs I have had lately, this one felt good.

just worn out. plain and simple

Spent a good part of yesterday driving to and from Chicago and sitting at O'Hare to send off my daughter and our exchange student to Spain. Wanted to run, but just too exhausted when I got back at about 8pm. Will try and run tonight. In case it is not obvious, I will not be doing tri-ing for children's this weekend. Still have not ridden my bike or swam all summer. It is starting to look like the only thing left to confirm my retirement from tris, is to hold a press conference.

From bad to worse. Yes my pace was slower than yesterday's trail run. Was tired and not real into this from the start. Another late night and I was just plain tired. I was really done at about mile 15, but still had 5 miles to home. Bonus (not) had a few aches and pains (and some bruises) from yesterday's fall. Also my shoes are at end of life and it felt like it. Ok I will stop complaining. They can't all be winners.

Lapham Peak. same route as last week, just a bit shorter because of time. As always distance is an estimate. Negative split got love that.
out: 47:27 (9:29 pace) 46:05 (9:13)

Beautiful day to run in the woods. (isn't everyday.) After a tough week of stress, little sleep (three nights to bed after 1), humidity and not much running, this was just what the doctor ordered. Although I don't think the doctor ordered the fall I took two minutes into run as I tripped on a rock. As the old saying goes, I picked myself up, brushed myself off and kept going. After that things went quite well. Continue to be pleased with my strength going up hills. Last couple of miles put the pedal down as I was trying to prevent a guy behind me from catching me. (mission accomplished) Whatever it takes.
