January is like that part of race where I go out too fast at the start. This is a year of expanding my mind and body. I expect to be in a better place and I am taking responsibility for getting there, but I need to pace myself. Another metaphor: January is like the swim in a tri: you can't win the race in the swim, but you certainly can lose it.
