EZ run

Nothing much going on today. Lots of work before I leave to FL on Wed AM, I also have to leave training plans ready for my guys and of course not much training. Just did an EZ 20 min run.
Today I brought my bike to FastSplits to have tune up, and it is ready to roll. I also downloaded the athletes guide and it finally began to sink in that the last and A race of the season is almost here. Of course I am not heading into it as I would have liked, IOW I had so many up and downs this season that the only word I can use to describe is inconsistency.  But all in all, it was a good learning experience and sort of my 1st tough patch on the road since I began training for triathlons.

This year I was hoping it to be my breakthrough year and be able to reach some of my racing goals, but many times in life things don’t go as planned and we can either sit down and feel sorry about ourselves or roll with the punches and keep on moving making the best out of the challenges we face. I won’t be getting to the race in the kind of shape I would have hoped for, but unlike the recurrent theme of my past races of this season, at least I am heading into it with a good solid couple of moths of training. Most important, I am more confident, ready and willing to go for it since the time the gun goes off. I won’t be holding back much or at all and I won’t be afraid to try go out hard and fail.  Although it is an unsettling feeling to think I can blow up at any moment, it is also exciting that I just might be able to survive and come out proud with the effort whatever the outcome is. AS long as I don’t hold back, I will be happy and again I am willing to go through the pain of racing at or near the red line in hopes of that 4:15 hrs. Go all out or go home! :)

Racing strategy - swim at tempo pace, bike: hold back a bit for the 1st 5-10 miles to fuel properly and then punch the pace at tempo pace. Run: start out fast during the 1st mile and repeat hodling the same effort for another 12.1 miles ;)

well, today I did absolutely nothing but sleep, eat sushi, ice cream and sleep some more :)

let's just say that yesterday I danced a lot, there was some tequila involved, went to bed late and I had a bit of a hangover.

what's more fun than riding 2:20 hr on the trainer? chewing rocks! ugh, I survived my torture on the trainer (fucking cold/rain) but looking back it wasn't that bad and it was a great mental challenge which 'should' make the 56 miles next weekend seem a bit easier. One thing which made things tougher was refueling properly as I drank much more due to the heat inside my place and since I didn't want to stop many times I didn't drink enough towards the end. aftre trainer, I changed put on tights, layers of clothing, hat, gloves and rain coat and headed out for HIM pace run in the rain/cold and freaking wind! It was crazy, I think I had to push sort of a 5:50ish effort just to avg 6:00 min/mile due to the head wind. Oh well, last session is in the books and now is taper time! :)

Good swim considering the &#$% reflux is till bugging me. I have to review my diet cuz something is making my stomach upset, causing acid and that cases reflux and that irritates my esophagus and that causes me the asthma… ugh! Maybe some of the supplements such as the antioxidants which is about the only thing I *think* I’ve been doing different. Anyway swim 2100 TT went well and I hit my pace on the dot although I start faster and lost steam towards the end, maybe due to high intensity bike session from yesterday.

no run today, my legs are a bit sored from yesterday's bike and since tomorrow it look s like a 2:20 hrs trainer ride due to $%^& cold rain, well I figured I would save my enegry for that last hard session. Plus I also went shopping (real reason i skipped my run lol) as I want to look snappy for my dance out tomorrow night. Hey salsa is always a good excuse to dance with hotties! :)

Short swim, it went ok but reflux is still bugging me :(

On a better note, yesterday I met with a friend that I haven’t seen in a while and she invited me to a dancing night with a bunch of people I haven't forever. Usually I would have said no due to training but since my taper starts on Sunday I can go out dancing, yay! One of the perks of tapering :)

slow swim. I felt sluggish and my feel for the water seems off. I couldn't get to push hard enough but the reflux thing didn't bother me as much which is good. Slow or off swims are a good indication that training is been consistent and rest might be need it. A few more days of training and then FULL taper time! :)
