Don't know if time and/or pace is correct as we had to stop a couple of times for traffic and for a wreck. Either way, it was TITS (time in the sadlle), so it was all good. Kept the HR down.

Easy ride with fellow BTers Lisa (twolives), Frank (FrankAmato), and Tri Thunder teammates Damie and Missy.  An easy ride on a new course, so we took it very slow.  Nice course though, definitely will do it again.  Everything was good until the ride back where we had a couple of cars pass us, then one car came flying by and next thing I know about another 1/2 mile up the road, I see a car wrecked and a couple of our riders out in the road and off their bikes.  NONE OF THEM WERE HIT NOR WERE THEY THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT!!!  What happened was that this 16 y/o kid lost control of his car going around a curve too fast and about 200yds in front of two of our riders.  They immediatley raced up to help the kid and luckily he was able to climb out of his car after he rolled it a few times.  Yes, he was wearing his seatbelt...good for him!  We sat there and helped him and directed traffic until the cops and ambulance go there; no apparent injuries other than what seems to be a kid that will be very sore for the weeks to come.  Neighbors had called the cops for us, so they arrived really quick and took over the scene.  Off we went, but much more careful this is amazing how that will wake you up.  Hope the kid will be alright, then someone can kick him for being a nimrod and driving too fast on country (curvy) roads.

Overall great ride, slow, but very enjoyable.  Great ride with good friends on a beautiful day...can't beat it!

easy run this morning.  It was my first weekend with my new marathon group.  Just did some out and backs to check on them and trying to keep the HR low.  A little short of what was scheduled, but the way I have been feeling this week, I will take it and move on to tomorrow's bike ride.

Quick lap around the neighborhood with Champ. Started out wanting to just walk with him, but then decided to see how long he would do at a run and he made it all the way and stayed by my side the whole time. Only once did he almost trip me. I think he may have Chippy's heart as on some points he was walking as fast as I could run! ;)

1st run with Champ.  Not bad for 3 months old.  Very well behaved!
Dammit.  Another night of only 2-3 hours sleep and now a head cold to go with it.  Just didn't have the energy to make the pool this morning.  Tonight's CT ride is a low HR/high RPM night, so I should be able to do that even with a slight head cold.

Computrainer ride complete via IM porn!  Watched the 2002 Kona DVD that I just got in the mail.  Also got the 2001 & 2000 DVDs....guess 2001 is for tomorrow's CT ride.  Whoo Hoo!

Swim didn't happen this morning.  Didn't sleep well and something I ate is getting it's revenge on me.  I will get the CT ride in tonight and will try to work the swim in over the weekend.
OK, now for a quick review of last month:

Swim:  increase in 8440 yds
Bike:  increase in 40 miles
Run:  increase in 3 miles
Time:  increase in 6+ hours

Now all this sounds good, but I did have entirely too many off days last month, especially the week off after the Memphis in May OLY.  Now speaking of that, I did complete my first OLY ever and my first race since June 2005.  So I will give it an overall grade of "B".

I tried to go slow...promise!

As expected, I was only able to get in a 30 min run after the 30 minutes of PT. I will do the other 30 later this afternoon.

#1 - 30 min/2.82 miles
#2 - 30 min/2.74 miles

No lightning, but a nice soft rain for the entire run.  Actually was a lot of fun.  Got some weird looks, but what's new???
Looks like I am going to get wet on this second 30 min run.  It just came a major thunderstorm and it looks like there may be a bit more coming.  Hopefully, there will be no lightning like this first storm...but I am getting out there!!!  Wish me!!!
Morning PT then I need to get in my run.  I may have to do two 30 min runs due to time constraints.  One in the a.m. and one after work.

Distance is a guestimate. Left the Garmin at home and ran by feel, trying to keep the HR low. This is going to be tough running Z2 only on these hills. No actual Z2 zone until after I get tested like a lab rat on 6/7.

OK people, the planned training for the next month is loaded into the computer. I will be laying it all out here so you guys can keep me honest.  I have canceled my upcoming travel plans to New Orleans since I can't seem to get any training completed on the road.  Not leaving town until my next race (July 16th).....It is time to train!!!

Here are the goals for the month of June:

  1. Only one off day each week! As per the sked.
  2. Strength/core training 2x/week ~ 1+00 minimum/week
  3. Lose 5 pounds (starting at 188)
  4. Stay at or below Z2 on all workouts (testing dates:  6/7 & 6/14)
  5. Meet all "weekly total training hours" (9, 10, 11, 12 respectively)

And NO, I am not upset with the string of yellow squares that I have going.  I'm gonna enjoy this week "off" because HELL begins tomorrow!!!

To be continued....

Got up at 5 and went to pick up the bride and groom to drop them off at the airport for their flight to Mexico.  Now I am back at the airport about to catch my flight back to Memphis in an hour.  Not much else on the agenda...maybe do a bit of car shopping, who knows....I need a new bike rack!
