Good ride, handled the wind better, finished by heading up to Arnaudville to get some extra miles in.

Funny: about 17 miles in, there's a car headed my way, I see the driver waving, then realize it's my wife, then realize that she's waving my helmet. I NEVER ride without my helmet, but this ride I never missed it. Even after she showed it, I still had to pat my head before I realized I didn't have it on.

More wind.
The wind is my friend, when it's against me it makes me stronger, when it's with me it makes me faster.

Ride with the Opelousas group, but no one wanted to ride more than 20, so I only had company for the first 12 miles. Designed my route so I would have tailwind over the last ten or so, which worked out well. Raised my average from 16.5 at Mile 22 to 17.1 at Mile 32, mostly 20-24 mph over the distance.

Team In Training, Group Training Session

Before Kim starts crowing about how much faster than this SHE is, this was a ride with Kathy (one of our Team In Training participants), her longest in years and first one with any kind if hills (St. Francisville). She did fine, no whining at all, even though we did maybe eight mile more than planned. Most of that extra came when we went up into Mississippi so she could tell her friends and husband that she rode into another state.

Was supposed to be a group ride with our New Orleans coach and his participants, but he had a communication snafu and no one got the word. He called after I was halfway there, but I called Kathy and she was so bummed that I met her out there and rode anyway. Beautiful day, nice company, good ride.

ET includes about 5 minutes of circuit weight training, mostly shoulder and upper back, my "Jessi Stensland" routine, just on the remote chance that I will lose said bet. If I gotta pose, I just as soon look good!

Hope Kim's doing some booty tightening work for the same reason.
