About 2 minutes into the ride my thighs were calling out to me "You aren't serious? You're making us do this again?!"
I was driving to the Rec ctr for a swim and some strength training, when, about 2 blocks from home, I looked at the blue sky and thought to myself "You're crazy for not taking advantage of this weather." So I turned around, threw the bike in the back of my Honda Civic and drove to Mendon Ponds Park! Great Day!!

Drove to Fellows Road Park and took the bike out Fellows Road to Penfield Rd then east past Gananda, etc., and back again. I thought for sure my pace would be something like 13 or 14 mph. The hills were killing me at the end and I began to hate every second of the ride, that is until Blues Traveler's song "Thinnest of Air" came on my MP3 player. That song kicks a**! :)
Anyway, did a total of 1215' of climb. Don't know if that's impressive or not, but it certainly kicked my butt.

I'm soooo pleased with my pace.... :)

I think I'm going to take a break from this sport for a little while. Or at least try to find a babysitter next time. The kids are getting too whiny and whimpy for my liking. Does carrying a 33 lb. 3 year old on my shoulders on trails and up hills for almost a mile count as strength training?

My husband thinks a reasonable goal for me would be to work up to a sub-20 minute 5K. But then I thought, instead of wanting to get faster, I think I'd rather work my way up to running 10K's. Gee, is that my first inkling of wanting to do an OLY someday? Probably. But I don't have serious goals for that until I get a better bike... And until I can maintain a decent bike pace for a sprint tri. Anyway, I thought I'd put that out there in BT-land - Kam31's very first contemplation of working her way up to an OLY!! ;)

Int/Adv. workout tonight.
Last one to finish, but hey, I did it! My arms felt like jello. This new weight training stuff is killing me... I missed the times on the Pull part of the workout by about 10 seconds each time. I made the times on most of the Sets, but by only about 5 or 6 seconds, if that (I don't always do a great job watching the time, though). I added about 10 - 15 seconds to my rest between sets.
Still a lot that I have to really concentrate on while swimming. It seems like it's at least as good of a mental workout as a physical one. Feel like I'm improving though.
