Didn't come here to race. Just a training day.Something about "GO!" that makes me race. It was on. Went out in 8:04 and figure what the hell, see how much I have and if I have to walk it in I walk it in.

5 miles at MP. need to be a bit faster. I was a bit slow but it isn't about fitness, it is about feeling the pace. Good run, felt solid.

Planned rest day. Ended up walking several miles in the mountains. Chilly!

Plan was for 5 mile tempo run. Cut it short at 4 because it was freakin COLD. Needed gloves! Good, fast run though.

oops. over cooked it. This was supposed to be a nice solid steady state run, NOT faster than a tempo run. Felt really good though!

Ever do something and think... WTF am I doing?

We probably all have. I just had one of those moments. Registered for the Spokane Half Marathon this Sunday. HUH?

I have not seriously trained in almost 3 months.

OK.... now that I have bashed myself for being stupid let me justify it (at least to myslef)...

1. I had a really easy, comfortable 10 miler this past Sunday. Well within my LSD pace and at an acceptable HR.

2. I like racing. Being around other people is enjoyable. Makes all the lonely hours worth it.

3. I am going into it with no pre-conceived time goals or expectations, other than to meet some very specific training objectives.  Those are: miles 1 through 6 at LSD pace, Zone 2 HR, hopefully 10:10 to 10:40 per mile. Miles 7 through 10 hopefully at MP around 9:10 per mile (zone 3/ low 4 HR). Miles 11 through 13.... just hang on. Recovery pace if need be.

unplanned rest day. Worked late. Busy single Dad night. Still adapting to single parenting. It is better than the previous arrangement though......
