Trainer ride

Calf is still a little sore. I was able to walk to the grocery store yesterday evening without limping, so that's progress. Swim tonight, unless my wife decides at the last minute to go to Sex and the City, in which case, I'll ride the trainer and watch some really violent guy-film in protest. Was supposed to go swimming with the boy, but he adamantly refused, so, that was that. Instead, we went and watch my wife win her softball championship. She could have been the MVP--she had an amazing season. After that, we went home, and I tried to go for a run, but my calf (my injury dujour) wasn't having it. Instead, I spent the day RICEing my leg. I hate to be a whiner, because, given what some others here deal with, I'm grateful to be able to bike and swim without any problems. My calves have always bothered me lng before tri's, so this is nothing new. But, this means that it's been about 5 months without having some kind of injury restricting my training, and it's pissing me off. I don't think Sprints are going to be to much of an issue, but Oly's and HIM's are going to to be tough and/or impossible if I can't start putting in some longer distance runs. I think I've got one run of more than 6 miles in '08, and that ain't gonna cut it. At least my knee and achilles feel better. B: YFG L: pizza at the ballgame D: turkey tacos w/lowfat cheese
It's supposed to pour this morning/afternoon, so bike riding might be out, but I'll try to get in a run. Naturally, I forgot that my wife had plans this afternoon, so I spent the whole day with the boy and didn't get to work out at all. B: pb&j L: D: tapas at this nice little local place.

Circuit workout w/lots of lower body

The injury du jour is a little calf strain, so I had been planning to run on the treadmill and do a strength workout, but I decided to bag the 'mill and do a bunch more exercises. B: Optimum peanut butter granola L: Salad D: smoked turkey, baked chips & salsa.

Met a friend from Chicago who was in town, and went to a launch party for her company's fancy chocolates. I mostly drank the wines that were paired with the chocolates. We had a caterer come in to work who's trying to get our business and they brought this amazing vegan spread. I don't know what everything was, 'cause I missed their spiel, but it was pretty good. Couple of fast 500's, lots and lots of drills. Started really feeling good in the water by the end. My first 500 was at just under 9:00.

Back to work today, but slow as hell, since lots of people are still away. The only thing better than long weekends are short weeks, I always say. My legs are still pretty sore, which is a little bit of a surprise, since my run last night wasn't that long, nor was my ride on Sunday. Is it possible that it's DOMS from the century? I had almost no soreness at all from that immediately after. Anyway, I've gotta figure out this calf/achilles thing. Pretty much every time I try to run further than about 3 miles, I feel one or the other. They'll be no HIM for me if I can't get this squared away. I'm glad I haven't signed up for Bassman yet, 'cause at this point, there's no way I'd be able to finish a 13 mile run. I've got all summer, but, as (I think it was Yogi Berra) said, "It gets late early out there." Meaning that it'll be August before I know it and decision time. Luckily, I don't think this race sells out too early, so I've still got time. B: YFG L: tuna salad, chicken salad, greek salad (if you guessed, "lunch at the salad bar", you'd be right.)
