Did 45 miles on my new baby today. Bike rode very well, but the gearing is still pretty "off." I'm running Dura Ace on the front and Ultegra on the back (I need to switch out the rear cassette). Weather was relatively warm (mid 40's) and cloudy but extremely WINDY! Most of the ride had 15mph head winds. Roads were wet so we were all covered in mud at the time we were done. Terrain was mostly hilly so got a good hill workout in... the IM course will be extremely hilly and windy so good preparation.

I finally felt somewhat normal and am slowly getting my energy back. Hoping all this sick stuff is getting out of me soon! Overall a very good ride and with a good night's sleep, I'm sure I'll see lots of good adaptation from today!

Did the 45 mi ride this morning on my new QR Lucero! Wow, it's sweet! I'll be posting some pics of it once I get it all set up and looking "pretty." Right now, she's taken a mud bath and I still need to swith the rear cassette. I'll put them in my album once the pics are ready. Dale had a pretty crappy day. In the first 3 miles, he got a flat and went through 3 CO2 cartridges. Once he finally got done and we all started going... I fell off my bike. Yep, got my first wreck on my new baby out of the way in the first hour of ownership! Then about 6 miles later, Dale got two more flats! OK, he's now gotten all his flats for the season out of the way in one day! Lesson learned... I need to make sure I carry all my crap with me. I didn't have anything with me today and I would have been screwed if I'd gotten a flat! Well, off to take a well-deserved nap! Now everyone go send TSMultiport (Dale) an "inspire" today and empathize with his rotten luck!!!

Ran with TTS. Ran most of the run with Muffin and we did the 8:1 walk/run. Last 3 miles, we picked up the pace to get back sooner as she had family commitments. Ran the last mile on my own.

For the first time in weeks, my run felt comfortable and I felt ok.

Went to Wheelie Fun bike sale and bought my first wetsuit! :) On the way home, I bought my first bike... a 2006 Quintana Roo Lucero. Bike porn to follow.........

REST DAY! I actually thought about going to the pool today and just swimming easy. After yesterday's swim and the fact my swimming has fallen completely apart, I'm not sure I even want to see the water right now. Hitting a low point in training right now, very frustrated as I don't feel confident in any of the 3 sports and haven't had a workout that's felt "good" in weeks. For the first time in training I'm actually seriously wondering, and even have fleeting moments where I have doubts that I can complete the distance. I know that mentally I've gotta get past that and not allow those thoughts to enter my head, but when workout after workout sucks, your body feels weak and you're fatigued all the time, it's hard to get past it. Maybe I'm just in the doldrums of coming back from being sick and I know it can't be overtraining as my average training volume has dropped >50% since November. I'm struggling to finish my bike sessions on the trainer (Maintaining 17 mph is a fast day right now. Before, anything <21 and I was having a bad day), My swim stroke has fallen completely apart (My multiset 50's in practice were between 30-35 sec, now they're close to 55 sec plus. In fact, the girl in my lane at Master' son Tuesday said to me, "What's going on with you? I NEVER catch you and now I'm on your feet in every lap? My run which is usually my strength feels horrible. I have no toe off and feel like I'm shuffling my feet and maintaining a 9 min mile in a long run feels like I'm running 7:15's. Before, an 8 min/mile was a slow rest/recovery pace. Ok, now that I have that out... I need to think positive and keep plugging away at my workouts and have faith that my fitness, form and results will take care of themselves in the coming weeks. C-O-N-S-I-S-T-E-N-C-Y!!!!! Tomorrow is long run (70 min) and heading to the Wheelie Fun bike sale tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Probably get a new wetsuit and maybe a new bike..... :) Ahhhh, so be on the look out for some BIKE PORN soon! Hope everyone has a great Friday!

Ran with Dale and Scott this morning. HR was WAY high pretty much the whole time but the nurses & doc from work said it was because of the BP meds they had me on. Evidently, it was causing some 'vasa-dialation'?? (Not sure haw to spell that) In a nutshell, it said that my blood wasn't flowing right, especially when working out which was spiking my HR and making my BP plummet.

Workout felt pretty hard, as they all have lately. But hoping that my body will acclimate to training again quickly and get back into shape soon!

Swim felt HORRIBLE. I thought several weeks ago it couldn't get any worse then this.... I was taking 20+ strokes per 25. Did not feel balanced, did not feel a glide, and overall just felt like I'd never done any swimming before. Like I was fighting the water.

Something is WRONG!! Either I have something going on and it's drained all my strength or I need to go back for lessons. WTF! I swam over 2miles less than 3 weeks ago and now I'm seriously struggling to finish an 800????

May need to take some vicodin before the appt so I'm not jumping off the table. Phrase of the day people.... "Lunges make your ass hurt!" Hold that thought and have a good day! :)

Did 25 miles on the trainer this morning at TTS. I felt very weak and struggled through the workout. I kept drinking water & gatorade, but throughout the workout I was very dizzy and at one point had trouble with my balance and was seeing yellow spots. I just put it in the small ring and spun for about 5 minutes till it lessened a bit. Don't know if I'm getting sick again or just struggling because I took 2 weeks off. But definitely not fun and I feel so far behind everyone now. :(

Don't have HR data today. I forgot to charge my Garmin so I can't really judge how hard I was going but just spinning in the small ring was about RPE 7-8. :(

Did 6 miles with Scott and Dale this morning. Ran a pretty hilly course after doing hills on the bike last night and doing a 30 minute strength-training session immediately before the run. HR got a little high on those hills, but felt nice outside today. Only about 50 degrees outside and I was able to wear shorts!!!! Whoo Hoo!!!

Did Masters swim tonight at Baptist East Milestone. We did distance night.. a good combo of a 400, 300 and 200 mixed in with 4x100's, 3x150's and 2x200's mixed in the middle on 5 sec rest.... just for good measure.

Overall, I felt like sh**! I need to start spending a lot more time in the pool.

Second day of presentations to Executive teams. Today is the technical reviews and will go much deeper than yesterday. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated! Hope everyone has a GREAT day! --------------------------------------------------- 9:20pm: Presentations at work went pretty well today. My big big boss tried throwing me under the bus today and I was able to answer the questions and my direct boss kinda saved me at one point and said to her, "Look, we're talking about $3 in cost increase versus over $1000 in price increase.... from a materiality standpoint, do we really need to focus our discussion there or should be looking at other more important things." Pretty ballsy statement, but hey... thanks boss! I'm still a bit down about training. Dropping back so significantly on my training for the last two weeks has left me with very little fitness. I struggled to put in 25 miles on the hills last night, my run pace has gone to crap and my swim feels horrible! I know I can get them back, it's just frustrating to know I have an A-race in 2 weeks. Moreover, it's horrible to feel like your body is completely unprepared for what you're asking it to do. I'm rambling here but I guess it's normal to be in the doldrums after coming back from sickness or an injury... but I'm just impatient. :)

Did 3 loops of the 8 mile course in Cherokee Park, then added on another mile. Felt good to get out on the hills but I have lost A LOT. Struggling to get to and maintain 20mph. Only one thing's gonna help that... TITS!

Weighed myself today and I feel like a big fat slob. :( 2 weeks off makes Sean a big boy... Anyway, I'm thinking of riding outside today since it's potentially going to be nice out. (Then I'd take Friday off since our crack weather team here in Louisville is calling for rain. yuk!) Work is going to be hell today. 6 presentations in front of the Executive Council and not sure how prepared I feel. Could be an easy one where I just put up the points or they could grill me on a bunch of meaningless crap. All depends on their mood. Hoping for a smooth day!!! Hope everyone has a great day!! ------------------------------------------------------ Well, knock on wood... the presentations went well today. They did not ask any questions, which was good. Tomorrow is the presentations to the product/ technical teams where they will get very deep into the details. Keeping fingers crossed that those reviews will go well too. I was able to go do a 25 mile ride outside today. It was VERY windy and relatively cold, but MUCH warmer than the past week. Today was my day off, but with all the rest days I took last week, I felt comfortable training today. I plan on taking Friday off and spending some time with my parents Friday night just relaxing before Saturday's long run.
