IMTX 70.3 Swim

Had a good swim, wetsuit pooled water around my ankles so when I got out there was a weird situation there. Swam the pace I wanted, was out into the wind the first 750yd or so, then with the wind for about 1k, turn sideways with a cross the final little bit. Was swimming around 1:10s with the wind/current, so that was pretty neat. A few days prior there were thousands of jellyfish as far as the eye could see but thankfully they had moved on by the day of the race.

Woof - had a stout 15-25mph tail wind the entire first half (well after about 5 miles of navigating the streets out to the main highway that runs along the cost). Turn around into a brick wall of wind - 1h40m+ of this ride was strictly into the wind at 13-14mph. Probably overcooked it too much on the way back in trying to hit my goal time of 3 hours flat for the bike, as can be seen on my run performance. . .

Felt pretty dang good for the first maybe 6 or so miles, then the wheels started to fall off. My stomach wasn't clearing out what was in it so I felt really bad as the run went on. I ended up taking only water for probably the entire first half of the run. Finally around the 10-11 mile mark I felt a physical change as things had clearly uncorked and were moving freely again and I could take in some salt and calories, but by then I was completely done having been deprived of that the last 1.5 hours or so, so it was just a test of fortitude to make it to the finish.
