The following equipment is nearing replacement:
Run #1
  • 09m 16s
  • 1.00 miles
  • 09m 16s /Mi

Run #2
  • 1h 50m 52s
  • 13.11 miles
  • 08m 28s /Mi

Started out just planning to run this around marathon pace, but decided after the first two miles I would see if I could keep the pace I had. Turned into an actual race for me and a good PR! :)

Run #3
  • 09m 51s
  • 1.00 miles
  • 09m 51s /Mi

Seriously?! I think I'm a split-personality runner. How is it possible to barely make it through a miserable 8 miles yesterday and have a great half marathon PR today? Really doesn't make sense - but I'm very happy to have had such a great race today! Time above is from the Garmin, the clock said 1:50:56 as I crossed the finish line. If I can have a good day in NYC, I think my original 4hr goal is very achievable! McMillan calculator actually shows 3:53:09 based of today's race.

Oh - and I surpassed last year's run mileage today!

How can a run go so terribly wrong, after having a good 20 miler just a week ago? This was miserable. Hopefully the misery is out of my system for tomorrow's run...

Everything is feeling normal again today, so run is planned for tonight. Hopefully I'll only end the week 10 miles short - which sounds like a lot, but is better than being injured! :)
Work, work, work. My leg is feeling more normal today, Kirk tortured me last night with some painful massage - I think that must have helped. I have an appointment tonight at 7, which would make my workout rushed, so I think I might give it one more day and do my run tomorrow instead.
Work and lingering leg pain prevented a workout today.

My right hamstring was feeling very tight and got tighter as I kept running. I hoped it would loosen by the time I finished the warm-up, but when it didn't I decided it was smarter to stop and stretch. Foam roller and stretching and it was still bothering me - not sure what happened. Hoping to keep stretching it out and try again tomorrow.

Nice fun run with Greg for Run Club.

I have been reflecting on my 20 miler this weekend and here are my thoughts:
   1. This is honestly the first time I've run 20 miles straight (no walking) ever
   2. This is the fastest I've ever run 20 miles
   3. This was a hilly route - more than the race will be
   4. This was still a humid run

Based on this run and my recent MP runs/speedwork, I think 9:30 is probably closer to a realistic pace for NYC. That being said, I'm not sure what impact the humidity is having on my running, so who knows how things will play out. I would still be very happy with a 9:30 pace (or honestly anything 4:30 or faster).

This week's training:
- Run Club (6mi)
Tue - Run Intervals (10mi)
Wed - Bike Intervals
Thu - MP Run (8mi)
Fri - Off
Sat - Bike or Rest
Sun - Locomotive HM (plus 2miles)
