Okay, I broke down and went on the tread mill. I didn't feel like getting wet. Not this early in the day, at least.

Turned out to be pretty good, did some hills and then some fast sprint work and then just some walking wondering where the hell I am.
I still don't like treadmills. Hip felt a little odd, I almost stopped, but it got better. Toe is back to normal, as normal as any appendage of mine can be.

Finished up with 30 minutes of stretching things out. Pretty good gym at the Four Seasons. Staff are idiots. I had to ask for a towel three times (in three languages (Spanish did the trick - and I don't even speak the language). Every time I went to ask the Hotel "trainer" a question, he would be adjusting his Ipod. He wasn't even cute!

Well, the waking up and going for a run hasn't quite materialized yet as I'm sitting here typing News Releases (press release is an oxymoron, think about it!) and it is raining in buckets, well maybe pails.

I may try it anyway. I don't have the right running clothes for a car.

I went to see the Georgia O'Keefe ex. at the Art Gallery. It was very uplifting. I went to the Gallery alone and would just sit on the provided benches and look at the art work and participate in the projected sequences...

All the security dudes were very nervous about me, and I got some furtive glances from some of the female patrons, and one male. It must be the hair.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they are not watching me!

After sitting on my ass for 4 days, finally walked around Raincouver and realized how much I detest namebrand, big label commercialism.
I spent a considerable amount of time in a bunch of Goth stores with a colleague looking for gifts for her spouse, not all of which he would wear.

I think I want to rethink my wardrobe. I saw some wonderfully tight tri top-like garments made of rubber. Very, ummmm, body hugging.

Well, back to seminar land for me. Today I'll be learning how to sit in a room and smile a lot and look interested.

Actually there are some interesting topics, so there will be some merit to the day, I hope!

Great run along the see wall. Felt strong, ran kinda slow, but had some fast bits, just enjoyed the scenery and tried to keep my HR in check. Felt pretty strong at the end. Beautiful day, overheated a bit. Wearing tights and jacket.

Got out quite early and ran past the Running Room mobs on way back. Interesting to see that group from another province.

Used old (dead) shoes and Thorlo socks. Middle toe a little stubbed.

Stretching after run

Sun came out this morning and smiled at me.

Started the run in the early dawn. Kinda windy, but it quieted down and became quite pleasant.

Full day of seminars and meetings today. I'm just exhausted.

I am a hotel.

See the Leonard Cohen song.

Okay, a little too much overindulgence yesterday. A bottle of Fat Bastard Shiraz some rich fancy-pants food (chicken livers in a sherry sauce, and penne with smoked duck sausage.) and a general late night. I'm a little toasted this morning.

Just as well, it is pissing out. And as much as I love running in the rain, I don't want to do it now. So there! tomorrow I hit the Sea Wall and Stanley Park. Today, well, Conference starts at noon, maybe I'll go to Lulu Lemon and see the Alpha to Omega of my personality.

My Internet connection will probably go dead in a couple of hours too. I probably wont reactivate until Sunday night/monday. It is 15 bucks for 24 hours!!! Bloody cheap 4 star hotel imperialist pigs!

Walked around Vancouver, went to MEC and La Bicycletta and Bike Doctor and some other shops. I want everything...chances are I won't buy much. I bought a Powerbar, I was hungry.

Give my regards to Brendan, remember me at Herald Square...

...cause I'm leaving on a (turbo prop) plane, don't know when I'll be back again...

Cuz we had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun...

but now I'm dancing with tears in my eyes, waiting for the memory of the day gone by.

I am a candy-finding god! The six monsters I took around last night got so much loot that they said this was the best year ever and then they thanked me for plotting out the course - I even included a hydration station and a transition zone (empty candy bags, pillows; child one left his dagger; friend B changed his costume; kid that "sleeps over 'cuz her mother is taking a night class" got out of her slutty and very uncomfortable boots and put on some much more sensible shoes.

We ran into some other kids and the exchange was one of my favorites.

"what's up"

"how much candy you get?"

"got some"

"let me look at your bag...Hey it's half empty. I got much more than you dude"

"This is my third bag"

"yeah, it's my third bag dude, my dad knows the best routes around and we got lots."

"nice hat. want some unpackaged popcorn dude?"

"uh, no. see ya. What streets did you go on..."

I'm going to work early. Today will be the day from hell.

Friday I'm leaving on a Jet Plane.
