Decided to go for an easy run while first born was at track practice.
It ain't easy to run easy anymore.
Spent most of the time running on grass. Ran around part of the race course at the University/Douglas Park and did my victory lap.

Feel quite good. Achilles continue to be a little tight.

A Day Without Me

I'm starting a landslide in my ego
Look from the outside to the world I left behind
I'm dreaming - you're awake
If I were sleeping, what's at stake?
A day without me

Whatever feelings I keep feeling
What are the feelings you left behind?

Today's a day without me

I started a landslide in my ego
Look from the outside to the world I left behind
In the world I left behind
Wipe your eyes and then let go
To the world I left behind
Shed a tear and then let go

Race Report is Up! RACE ... Official Times.

15th out of 18 in my very competitive age group.

Last year I finished in 1:40:51. I was 86/101 (20th/20AG) 17:56 swim, 49:52 bike, 33:04 run.

May the fourth be with you!

Here we go...weeeeee!

-5....feels like -10.

It feels like the first time, like the very first time.

And for those of you who might have noticed, yes First Wife's initial is above my planned vs. Actual graph.

Did the bike course with Nick. And some with Dennis. Still very sandy. Weather is looking good, but still lots of wind.

Tried to sleep in but I was up 4 times to pee, must have been the beer and at 6:30 I was ready to go cycling...crap I hate routine.

Having an easy day today, a little spin around the bike course. Pick up the race package, help clean up and set up a bit of the course. Then that's it...no sweeping for 6 hours, like last year!

First wife was at the bar with the car. So I ran to Bushwakkers and had a pint and then we drove home together.

I figured I earned the beer.
Easy pace...got stopped at all the traffic lights.
Turned some heads at the bar.

This is just too fun.

New photos in my album Hypothermic and RPS

For some entertainment. I would like to compare and contrast two running scenes:

This is me, a little chilly running the Hypothermic Half Marathon in -45 around Wascana Lake.

I'm not so much waving at the photographer as I am saying "help me...help me Spock..."

Now this is me running around the same lake (see there is water there!) at about the same location in about 8 c.

Same photographer - T.E.

The next running race I'm doing naked.

So here I am at the crack of stupid with a bunch of donuts trying to to figure out why a good friend has gone into stealth mode....

Okay, I'm awake already. Just as well I didn't go cycling. It is windy and gross out.

I felt pretty tired, but I generated some good speed.

New shoes NB 768. Replacement of the 767 model. Very cozy, but I started to get a blister - it was the sock. Took it off adjusted it and went. Went fast.

Same course as monday Douglas Park:
7.23k in 38:48 pace 5:22. Really freakin' fast. Felt good. Very windy. Me, not as much.
Then did 4 hills average pace of 6:05.

973 cals.

I can't believe how fast that was.

PM update.

Bought new goggles in preparation for race day...smokey colour, they were out of plaid.

Slept in because I could.

I'll be swimming later and probably running tonight, if the rain isn't too bad.

Something strange is happening with my weight.

I also started a new iron supplement. To reassure me that the product was good, my pharmacist (not THE pharmacist who lurks here) assured me that it is what all the doctors give to their wives.

Now I know she was trying to say that if it is good enough for a doctor....

But I didn't like the fundamental assumptions that all doctors are male (unless I totally missed the boat and she was referring to high proportion of married lesbian doctors we have here).

As a female professional, I would have hoped that she would use examples and language that elevate women, not resubjugate them to being uneducated, idle and dependant on Da Man.

On the other hand, maybe she took a look at my long hair and thought I was a woman? Hmmm. I gotta stop wearing those Empire Waist shirts with the Lulu Lemon yoga pants.
