Whooooo!

A fantastic result for me! I felt like I was pushing just a little bit during the ride. Not enough to wear myself out, but just enough to make me question what I would have left to run. LOL I had some gas problems for the second half of the ride and I felt very full. I couldn't eat quite as much as I wanted and this got me later on the run. Ride was very uneventful and very satisfying.

This run course is a crusher! I felt pretty good starting off, but I was completely out of gas. Zero aches, pains, strains or cramps, until a slight calf cramp in the last 100 yards. I'm very happy that my legs felt so strong, even though I had no energy left. Hills, hills, hills! If this had been flat like White Lake, where I could get in a gear and cruise, I would have done much better. Running up most of these hills just wasn't an option with my tank empty. I lost count of how many Hammer Gels I ate during the run, and they helped, but I was never able to get back ahead of the energy curve. I still had a fantastic time and look forward to the challenge of this run course next year!

Great swim in the lake. I kept a good, easy, steady pace for the whole distance and never felt uncomfortable. This was the easiest part of the race for me today.
