Skipping today's workout too.  It is a swim and after the run last night, I just don't know if I can do it.  Especially with my throat still being raw, nose plugged up and chest still congested.  Fortunately, I still have 10+ weeks left till the race so plenty of time to make it up.

Beth and I leave at 5 today for NYC.  Should be fun.  I'm looking forward to it.  Well, ok, I'm looking forward to Carmen at the Opera and Dean and Deluca.  And some good food.  The town itself? Eh.  Not so much.  Just don't like NYC.  Personal preference, I guess.  To me it is so dirty.  I feel dirty the minute we land.

Did NOT do what I was supposed to which was a 45 minute run with strides. Main run at RPE 3-4. Instead I did a 30 minute, 9 minute run and 1 minute walk.

Man that run was something I don't know if I want to do ever again.  It felt, like every breath was setting my throat on fire.  My HR never got above 150 but it felt like I was having a hard time catching my breath.  Fortunately my nose wasn't running as much as I was. 

I'm still coughing but no where near as much.  But when I cough now, it hurts like a mutha.  My abs and ribs are incredibly tender from coughing so much yesterday.  I've already decided to take tomorrow off from the swim and try to get some good workouts this weekend, even though we will be in NYC.  Fortunately, the hotel has bikes and dreadmills.  So I should be good to go.  

I just hope ALL the coughing is gone by tomorrow so I don't freak anyone out on the airplane and so it doesn't ruin our trip.  Going to NYC to watch Carmen at the Opera as well as just having fun around town.  Still not my favorite town, but it is Beth's so it is for her.  One really cool thing is we are going to go to the Original Dean and Deluca store.  Man it is going to be hard to leave there.  :)

Woke up still sick.  Aching.  Fever.  Coughing. Drainage.  Blech.  As the day has progressed I've
 gotten better, but I'm still not 100%.  Hopefully I will be tomorrow. 2 days of missed workouts.  Ugh! 

I'll save tomorrow's workout till the evening so I can recover as long as possible.

Well, I'm not entirely certain what happened in the swim today.  First 200 I was sitting at 4:35 but when I finished the next 200, the time on the watch showed 7:55!  There is no way I slowed down.  If anything, I felt that I sped up.  So now I'm wondering if I lost count and did and extra 50 without knowing it.  Beth and I had to share a lane and at one point, we were side by side.  It did distract me.  It wasn't her fault.  It was mine.  And I had a few REALLY bad flip turns.  Bad in that I breached too early. 

The ride was fine today.  Nothing spectacular.  Listened to U2 Live at Red Rock and INXS Listen Like Thieves.   Downloaded both of them yesterday.  Hadn't heard them in years.  Kind of fun. Almost started singing.  Made me feel young.

Finally, the run.  Worrying.  Left hammy started to hurt a little bit.  Right about the 1/2 mile to mile mark.  Lengthened the stride just a hair and it seemed to loosen up a bit.   Finished up with a good stretch but even now, as I sit here watching TV it is tight.  Put the compression tights on and did some more stretching to see if I could loosen it up some more.  Maybe put some tiger balm on later tonight. 

Now onto non tri related topic.  MAN it is cold outside.  -1 when I woke up and the high today is supposed to only get up to about 3 or 4!!  Fortunately, it will warm up to about 20+ tomorrow.  Phew!  But more snow!  All week.  I'm actually regretting liking the darn stuff.  Tired of shoveling.
