Rowing machine at the gym at lunchtime. For whatever it's worth, the machine said I burned 217 calories during this 15 minutes. At least I was struggling for breath and sweating trying to keep the output level up. Just some stretching afterward.

The apple watch estimates how many kcalories I burn based on my age, weight, heart rate, etc. It also estimates the kcalories my body uses just living through the day and then sets a goal of "active" kcalories, those in excess of the minimum. I've had the goal set at 1000 since shortly after getting the watch and almost always make it. Way over when I'm actually exercising more than a few minutes but just barely on some weekends or while on vacation. Lately I'm usually between 3300 and 3600 total each day, according to the watch anyway.
