Tough day for the family yesterday. We had to put down one of Emmy's guinea pigs. Pretty sad even for a tough guy triathlete. She got sick last week and the vet said it could be a spinal issue or bacterial infection. This was after looking at an x-ray. So, we gave her the meds prescribed and watched over her. Well turns out it was a spinal injury of some sort. Not sure how it happened or what caused it but she essentially ended up paralized at her rear. She could not feel her feet. She also could not relieve herself.
We did our best to save her because she was one of Emmy's first pets. I placed a picture of her in my album. She is the black and white one.
I may get in a run tonight. We'll see.

Just the usual good times at Saguaro last night. Met a few newbies and a visitor from CA who joined us for some training.
I felt pretty good out there. The water was very warm with the occasional cool spot. I used my pull bouy for added floatation as I just did not feel like working that hard. I swam the night before. My arms were tired but not too bad.
The run also was not as bad. I gave the ladies a treat by running shirtless ;)..Tanya and Chris asked me a few times what was beeping. Turns out it was my Garmin. My heart rate was over the limits set. During the majority of the run, it was about 186. The high was 198 when I finished. I told Shelley about it and she said I can't do that anymore. I usually will slow down once it gets into the 180s but I actually felt pretty good considering I was running up a hill in 100+ heat with some humidity spice thrown in.
