Headed out this morning for the town of Kansas, Illinois, which is about 2 hours east, over by the Indiana border, for the Illinois Kanza. It's just me and Steve going -- the cold kept everyone else home. Hoping the snow we had doesn't make for muddy conditions.
Considering we had snow on the ground and wind, we had a fair amount of trick or treaters. It looked like the a lot of parents were driving the kids in the car and letting them out at houses that had the lights on rather than walk the neighborhood. I can't say that I blame them.

What a work week it has been -- have been working on a proposal for an aviation project with one of our newer engineers -- he's very experienced but has a very different style and it's been quite the learning experience. He seems to be one of those people who have great ideas at the 11th hour. That sh*t drives me crazy.

So the proposal goes out this morning and nothing short of a natural disaster is getting in the way of my lunch gym workout. My tolerance for work BS is at an all-time low.

We went to dinner last night with a bunch of cycling buddies to say goodbye to two couples who are headed down to Florida for the winter. Very nice evening but past my weekday bedtime

Afternoon Update -- I did the math and I am pretty confident i can retire at the end of November 2020 instead of December. At any rate, I'm going to proceed as if that's the case

It was great to see Patty and Ginger yesterday at breakfast. They have both signed up for IM Chatt for 2020, along with a couple of others. I know they were kind of hoping I might venture back into triathlon, but that's probably not going to happen any time in the foreseeable future. It's enough of a challenge for me to focus on one sport at a time, let alone 3.

As if having a stack of pancakes wasn't enough, I stopped at the ice cream shop on the way home and indulged in some Mississippi Mud. It really hit the spot.

Today is lunch with the department. One of my coworkers, Megan, has transferred to our Springfield, Missouri, office and it's not likely that we will be seeing much of her anymore. I will miss having her around, she is cute and funny and makes the work environment a bit more tolerable.

Steve gets home from Florida this morning, he's got a super early flight out of St. Pete. It will be good to have him home.

I think it rained almost all night and the wind was howling. I'm sure all the beautiful leaves on our trees will be gone. Plan is to go to LA Fitness for strength work when they open up, then meet Patty and Ginger for breakfast. I've got a 3 hour ride on the Training Peaks schedule today and haven't quite figured out when or where that's going to happen. It's supposed to be a "strength" workout, where you ride for a bit and then put the bike in the biggest gear and grind out some slow intervals. Thinking about going to Centennial Park where I can ride on the grass trails for those.
