We got home around 2 this afternoon. Decided to drive the Tallahassee route rather than come through Atlanta. It's about an hour longer but definitely less stressful. On Saturday night we stopped for the night in Athens, Alabama, just south of the Tennessee/AL border. Slept soundly and then got up this morning and drove the rest of the way. It's about 17 hours total, not counting stops for gas/bathroom/food, etc.

We saw some of the tornado's devastation while going through Kentucky --- our route was about 25 miles north of Mayfield, and you could tell where the tornado passed through, destroying everything in its path. Saw some houses that had been leveled and quietly hoped whoever lived there got to safety in time.

The Edwardsville, IL Amazon warehouse is so scary --- our company has a small office in that town and we have some friends who live there. Everyone is fine, other than losing power for a bit.
Getting organized today -- celebrating DIL's birthday tonight and then heading for Illinois early Saturday.

Three bridges ride

We met up with a couple of members of the St. Pete Mad Dogs Tri Club and did a loop that included three large bridges --- that's about the only way to get any hills around here. Fog was thick at the start and it felt like we'd ridden in the rain.

Yoga on the beach. Different instructor with a different style --- more focus on core. Nice class!

Went over to the Cambria hotel this morning, where Steve's DIL Emily works as a server. The place was dead, which was good since apparently the cook called in sick. Emily ended up filling in as chef and did a great job although she was very nervous about this.

Then went to the yoga on the beach. There's something about being outside with the sound of the surf and the smell of salt air that is so conducive to yoga.

We wandered around the local flea market for a while, had lunch, then went to Home Depot to look at blinds and other Improvements for the condo. That will be later in 2022 when any of that happens.

MTB at Alafia

Drove over to Alafia State Park and did some mtb on the trail system there. The "blue" trails were pretty rocky and technical, surprising since it's Florida. Mosquitoes were thick and would attack if you stopped moving.

Yoga on the beach

Easy day. Did a yoga class on the beach. I think this little yoga company (Madeira Beach Yoga.com) is the highlight (for me) of this area. There were about 20 in the class. Felt great to get all stretched out.

It's very foggy here. Even after the sun came out in the afternoon, there were big clouds of fog hanging out on Gulf Blvd.
