Probably about a half hour to an hour. I usually like to get in at least a mile but it kind of depends on what the group wants to do. I think there are probably people in your area doing OW swims if you don't want to drive all the way to Seattle. Check the
Seattle Triathlon Club website.

Wish I could come and play!.... but it's more like a 4 1/2 hour drive for me.

Not this year. Although I would if there was a group there that met regularly but I haven't heard anything. Madison Park Beach is really nice. It doesn't have much plant life in the water and it is fairly protected so not many big waves. You should come out sometime. The water has been great!

Not sure about Texas! Anyone else would be great... But Texas? Just joking. I won't be there. Out of town, but good luck.

Yes I am planning on being there this week. I usually wait at the southern
(sandy
) side of the beach for people rather than the north
(stairs
) side. Last week I was alone so it will be nice to have some company.

Are folks still meeting at Madison Park on Thursdays?
I haven't done any OW swimming in a while so I need to get out there. I always feel better seeing other folks in wetsuits.

I have been going and I see other triathlete there most of the time. I might not go today as I am in the process of moving right now. I am thinking about trying to get another group to swim at Idylwood. Anyone interested?

I swim frequently at Idylwood and in the mornings, its great--usually several others there swimming between the bouys. Once the lifeguards get there around 11:00, it's a no-go as they don't want to come rescue anyone out of their area. BTW my friend got out there on a kayak and measured it with her GPS, and if you swim between the four bouys out there, one lap
(not length
) is .3 mile.

What are the best places to swim in Seattle. I've only been her a few months so I could use any suggestions.
I've been to Madison Park a few times and it's real nice. Does anyone know the distance between the last buoy and the rope?
