Time for some guessing, finish time prediction!
BY: Cochip on 2012-07-28 10:03 AM
Yesterday was the last day of my "peak" week and now it's taper time. I'm so happy to have gotten through it and was really happy with how the week went. Yesterdays long ride was my longest ride ever and I nearly hit my goal of a 19mph average even with some serious hills. My first Oly is two weeks from now and I'm starting to think that I may be in the running for an AG podium spot if I can hit my time goal for the day. I'm racing in the clyde division, 6'2" & 215lbs(hopefully on race morning)!! My logs are current and I'm curious what you all think.

Not sure what the clyde competition is like, but that wouldn't be near any AG podiums I know...sorry, nothing personal intended. 2:47 is my guess. Maybe ~29-31 swim, 1:15 ride, 54min run. For you it looks like the run will be the most important for the make or break. Didn't take a detailed look thru ur logs but consider doing a track day or some kind of speedwork, especially if you're racing shorter like this!
Good luck!

31 min swim, 1:20 ride, 1:03 hr run. Add 4 mins for transitions = prediction of 2:58
Assumes not wetsuit legal, fairly flat course, decent temps.
Went back to an Oly I did last year. At that time you could have podiumed in a couple of the mens AG's but that race was hot and the run was miserable so the times were slower than normal. Same race in 2010 unless you were 55 or older and male you weren't going to podium. BUT, this race does not have a clydes category so who knows?
Either way good luck and let us know how you did!
