8.11.13 Sunday Funday!

Good morning BT! It's a beautiful day here in the desert!
5:30am: 7 mile run
6:45am: strength training
So, how about this! I took 2nd in my age group at the Escape From Black Ridge Sprint Tri yesterday! The only sucky part is that I didn't wait around to check results and totally missed my podium opportunity! Ah well...! The race report is complete!
Speed Week here at the Bonneville Salt Flats have started--I'm heading out to the salt to wash cars all day long and chat up all the racers that descend upon our small little town every year! It's hard work but a lot of fun--plus $$$ for shopping! :-
)
Have a great day!

Congrats on the race! Two hour bike ride here, with 6 X 10 minutes @ race effort/ 5 minutes easy. "Effort" being the operative word. I must have still been jet-lagged when I put the components back on my Vietnamese bike and ended up with the seat way too low and the aerobars pointing slightly down. By the time I realized it I was already about half a mile down the road. I live in a fifth floor apt. with no elevator and can't leave bikey outside, had left the multitool and going back to get it seemed like too much trouble. Talk about uncomfortable and lots of effort for little result! The down-pointing aerobars actually were pretty comfortable but the low seat was definitely not the most efficient way to ride--felt like my knees would hit the handlebars!
Afterwards felt like I'd ridden twice as long. Sure hope it's the seat issue--if it's the bike
(I've been riding my 1.5 at home; clearly a better bike but I didn't think it was that much faster
), I'm going to get rid of it!

Did my first brick. Training for my first sprint. 12 miles on the bike followed by a 3 mile run. Towed my two youngest kids on my mountain bike in the trailer. Then pushed them in the jogger for my run.
