Garmin 920XT Tri Bundle vs 920XT Watch Only
BY: vnewberry on 2016-06-06 8:39 AM
Hi guys,
Looking for some input. Thinking of getting the updated Garmin 920XT. Wondering if any of you have an opinion on the Tri Bundle versus the watch only.
Is it really worth spending the extra money on the Tri the bundle or is the watch only sufficient?
Any thoughts you have would be appreciated

It depends on what your training needs and/or goals are. I use the Heart Rate Monitor to keep my slower runs in zone 2. If you wear the HRM you also get some additional running information like vertical displacement etc.
If you simply want to know how far you've gone and at what speed, then the watch is all you need. If you want to know how far you've gone and want to know what it took to get there, get the bundle.

There is actually a third option. The Tri bundle comes with the HRM-swim and HRM-tri which collect HR data in the water and then push it to the watch when is gets connection
(out of the water
).
The other option is to just get the watch with the HRM which is the HRM-Run and that will give you normal HR data plus running dynamics. I would go that route instead of the Tri bundle. You can't get live HR data while swimming anyway, so it's only useful for later analysis. I actually just had my wife get that one for me for my birthday this week.
Trisports.com has it on sale right now for $374
(or $336 for no HRM
)

I've got a 20% code but I don't think it works on already discounted products and it's discounted 25% right now anyway. but let me know if you want one for other stuff from them.
