Ironman Louisville - power pacing
BY: Roundegg812 on 2016-09-28 8:33 AM
I just completed my FTP test last night and it came out to a 236 with 95% of that generating an FTP of 224. I am racing Ironman Louisville in a few days (my first) and didn't really know how to come up with a pacing plan. I know I should stay within 65-75% of my FTP but I didn't know how to break that up. Are there certain areas where I should exceed that and others I should stay below? I have rode the loop on 2 separate occasions - 2 laps each time so I am pretty familiar with the course. Anyone in that same power range have watts to speed correlation for that course? Thanks in advance for any advice. -

I'm no expert but have to trained on an outdoor long ride at similar power to what you plan on racing at IM Louisville? -

Should be using your training over the last few months to help with these questions, not a test just a few days out. Part of the long rides is figuring out what you can ride at.
Some questions are suggestion being new to power as well, is that the case?
