Cycling Shoes - Numb Feet

When I bike my toes & feet will become numb.

I am looking for a solution (cycling shoe) but I do not want to use clip in shoes or toe box pedals.

Also, since I am just a novice I do not want to buy custom made/fitted shoes.

Suggestions?
