Tri-U-Mah recap
BY: autumn on 2007-02-18 2:03 PM
it was so great to see everyone and to race together. it really felt like the race was being put on just for US! hee hee.
congrats to emily for finished her first tri!!!!!!
love the schwag, as usual. loring pasta bar was wonderful food wise, not so great service wise or price wise...but the company was great! they need to install a nap room next to the cool bathrooms. yawn.
i didn't do as well as i would have liked this year, especially on the bike. last year i got a whole other mile in and don't remember it being as hard. i blame the bike i was on. really. its the bike's fault.
anyway, here are the two pictures from my camera. from left to right...me (autumn), my mom kathleen (lilith41), joe (joer), roger (rabkaman), nora (norakramer), dan (acesfull), kelly (kelpeng), steve (hikergerb), tom (matchman...nice guns, tom!), and emily (bikergrrrl):

What a great picture. Thank you for posting with the names. Very jealous I couldn't have been there today. Can't wait to start meeting some of you folks at outdoor tri's this year.

Someday I will not be able to do this- Today is not that day.

I've got pictures:
http://www.salt2salt.com/waitzpix/index.php?album=2007Tri-U-Mah&dis...
If anyone hates a picture of themselves and wants it gone, let me know. I took out a few nasty ones already. I even have a picture of TKDJen!
My friend Nikki who spectated and joined us for lunch promises to sign up for BT soon. She's done a few tris and will be at Minneman this year. My friend Carrie, pictured towards the end in a later heat, is my lovely running partner. I wouldn't have managed many runs without her. This was her first tri, too. -

awesome pictures, emily. thanks for sharing (and thanks to bob for taking them).
i'm going to start a thread about planning a mock tri at either fort snelling state park or white bear lake. good way to get a feel for the outdoor races (and my guess, is that it will be more enjoyable).
my memories of my first tri is that it was a lot like having a baby. it was harder than i expected, and afterwards, i didn't really want to think about doing another one...but after a day or so, i wanted to do it again. okay, it took me months or years to feel that way with childbirth, but only a day or so w/ my first tri.

Normally I would have deleted such a picture or myself, but it was too funny and telling. And notice everyone else bent over in agony behind me...
I have to apologize to everyone other than Autumn, Kelly and Steve for the lack of picture (and to you guys for too many?). Bob didn't realize that we were all there together! He thought it was just the people who he knew (who were at Kelly's). Sorry! I guess the discussion about how we were going to have 12 people at lunch didn't sink in with him???? Not to mention, I am SURE I told him regardless. -

well, the photographer was almost stalking our group, so no doubt there will be pictures of everyone. please thank him for the picture of the results, especially.

Certainly. And yes, I was quite surprised by the interest of the photographer. He was taking several pics during the bike from my end and I was actually thinking "Go away!". I just felt so awful during that part, there's nothing like having minute by minute proof.
By the way, those are just the first results. I am quite sure mine are accurate, but that doesn't show the changes for at least Kelly.

Agony is a good description of how I felt. -

Congrats everyone! Great job despite the possessed bikes. Does that mean you guys get a recovery week?

Congrats Emily for completing the Tri-U-Mah!!! And thanks for having Bob take pics - he took some awesome ones - I love the one of Emily at the end of the treadmill! The cameraman was kind of stalking us, but he said he would put the pics up on the tri-u-mah website. Hopefully he took some good ones!

We either take a risk and move toward what we want, or we play it safe and choose comfort. Most of the people, most of the time, choose comfort.
In the end, people either have excuses or experiences; reasons or results; buts or brilliance.
They either have what they wanted or they have a detailed list of all the rational reasons why not."
i think i win the dorky award for yesterday.

LOVELY!
