I just heard that Philly was added to the Toyota Cup Series, so some of the really big names should be there this year. Can anyone confirm that?

I'm in for the OLY distance this year, and will be my first event of the season!
I did the sprint distance the past two seasons. So I'm looking forward to stepping up my game this year.
I'm familiar with the biking course as it's my home turf, and intimately familiar with the taste and feel of the sprint swim.
My question to those who did this event before, how was the oly swim?
It looks appealing that the entire swim is going with the current; and not against, across, with, across - like the sprint swim does.
TIA,
Dave -

It's too early to say what it'll be like on race day. It could not rain for 2 weeks before the race, and the water will be low and slow, or there could be storms making it high and fast.

Yeah, historically they make the call the day before the race, and it'll be based on whatever rain storm is blowing through, and how much it may have stirred things up. The only event I know they canceled the swim for was last year's "She Rox" tri, and turned it into a run/bike/run because of a strong rain storm that went through the day before the event.
So best bet is to keep a close eye on the weather forecast throughout race week. There's also a site that reports on the river conditions here:

The Olympic race was turned into a du in 2006. Decision was made while athletes were setting up transition on race morning. Heavy rains within 24-48 hours of race day are what you don't want (e.g., the Sat sprint still had a swim). The river "cleans" itself pretty quickly, but heavy rains will wash debris into the water making it either unsafe for health or saftey reasons.
