IM Canada watching thread
BY: KathyG on 2009-08-24 10:54 AM
If you'd like the board to follow you on race day, please post with your:
- full name
- bib number (if they've been posted)
- race goal (finish, podium, PR, etc.)
- super double secret race goal (seriously, I can't believe how many of you do this already)
- how many Ironmans you've finished in the past
I think Aaron (jeepfleep) is looking for volunteers to gather and update information on race day. Both IM Canada and KY are the same day so lots of BTer will be out there racing.
If you'd like to help out post as well.

I was hoping for sub 12 with a stretch getting closer to 11, but injury restricted training makes sub 14 more realistic.
(secretly still hoping for 12 but it's not likely)
1 previous IM, this one last year.

Time goal: sub 12:30, although sub 13 would be fine
Secret time goal: none!
This is Ironman #5. Based on my training and the course, my goal is to make this my 2nd fastest Ironman. My PR is 11:53 and I don't think it's possible to beat that tomorrow. My 2nd fastest is 13:05 and that should be very do-able tomorrow.
Swim should be 1:25 or so. I am much better trained this year than last year's IMC and expect a 6:40 or better, barring problems. I don't imagine with the hills and heat I'll get much faster than 6:25. Then I expect a 4:20 to 4:40 run.
Add in transitions, and I'll be done in ~ 12:20 to 13:00. I can't see how I could take 30 minutes off that to PR, and trying to that on the bike early would just be foolish. Last year I was guilty of that sort of goal inflation and hammered the early part of the bike to my everlasting regret. I'm not going to do it again.
