Successful Triathlon Training, by Fred D - OPEN
BY: Fred D on 2014-12-20 11:06 AM
Name: Fred Doucette
Group Focus: Triathlon. I race Olympic, HIM and IM distance, but am interested in helping triathletes be the best they can be at any distance. My best results have been in HIM and IM racing.
Story: 44 yo Age Group triathlete who is proudly sponsored by Team Zoot (North east Team). Started tri training in 2006. Completed 6 IM's, 9 HIMs, countless olympics. BT was instrumental in my getting started in the sport. I had my best year of racing last year under my coach Shane M. I am a physician who works a lot of strange, long hours and work very hard to balance family, job and triathlon. I am married with 2 kids (9,12).
2015 Race Plans: I am racing Escape from Alcatraz and Ironman Mont Tremblant. I am likely racing a HIM and an olympic as well but have not yet signed up. Goal is always to have fun and maximize my performance to be the best it can considering my schedule and life.
2014 Race results: 3rd Overall at Raystown Olympic. 9th overall and AG winner at HIM Musselman. 10:00:59 at IMMT, 69th overall. Second in Age group at Westchester Olympic.
Weightloss? I aim to be a few pounds lighter by race season, but have a fair amount of insight in what it takes to lose weight, as I used to weigh 210 lbs and now weight 160 lbs.
Why would I be a good mentor for you? I have run a number of groups in the past with success over the last 5 years. Many of my menses have actually become good friends with each other and met up at races. I am a founding father of the SBR thread as well ;-). Honestly I think the thing that would make me a good mentor for YOU, is that if your goal is to be the "Best YOU, you can be" at triathlon, without compromising the other key things in life, then I suspect this would be a good group for you.
FINALLY, RULES: There are only a few basic rules to be part of this group. You do not have to be fast at all to be in this group, but I am looking for people who are serious about triathlon, not fast. Here are a very few rules:
- Please use your first name (you are encouraged to use your full name, but I will accept first name) as I have found that attaching some form of personalization to group members has resulted in much more civil dialogue than the anonymous nature of the main forum or sites like Slowtwitch.
- No politics, bad mouthing of others, or complaining about stuff in the main forum here. I try to stay far from the main forum, as again, the anonymity results in poor civil behavior too often. We should aim to discuss triathlon, or the individual sports, racing, nutrition, injuries, power etc.
- If you log here I encourage you to friend each other so you can check in on logs. I do not log on BT (but can be easily followed on Strava if you have interest), so I won't 'friend you', as their is not much point in seeing an empty log ;-)
- PM me if you have any issues at all.
I hope I can help a few of you here, and honestly these groups have helped me immensely as well, so welcome :-)
