Ironman Chattanooga : Official Thread
BY: Mike J on 2015-10-23 6:05 PM
Gulp! This is my 1st full Ironman! I have completed many 1/2 marathons, 4 full marathons, 4 1/2 Ironmans, but this will be my 1st full Ironman. I will be preparing over the next 11 months and looking forward to a brilliant journey.
Who's with me? -

You picked a great course in my opinion. This will be my 2nd trip to Choo, but my 5th IM.
Looking forward to a little revenge as my last time here didn't end well for me.

I'm in for 2016. This race will be my third IM and I'm hoping to keep the PR's going. I'm hoping to take a little mental focus away from hardcore triathlon training over the next couple of months before taking up the torch again. I was almost 12 full months of beating myself to death after completing IMWI in '14 as I headed to IMLOU this year.
The plan, currently, is to take until January or February to do some strength training and stretching that I'd dropped all of the past 12 months and then roll into triathlon focus again.

I'm in, along with 8 other friends from just north of Dallas. This will be my 3rd IM (IMFL 2014*, IMLou 2015).
I'm registered for a marathon in early March (will try to BQ) and will likely do the HIMs at Galveston (April) and Buffalo Springs (June). That's my 2016.

I'm in as well! I have a FULL race calendar for 2016, but this is my "A" race.
I'm starting to get a little nervous about the hills...I live in Florida.
Starting my training about a week ago!

The hills are not bad at all, mostly rollers, just works the gears. A few, or more, railroad tracks early on the first 15 miles out and last 15 going back, hang on to your water and spare tires, it can be bumpy. have fun!

Hey Brett, I live over in Prosper and registered for IMChoo, as well. Will be my first and I'm really looking forward to it. My wife and I went out and volunteered last year and it was a great experience. Love the area, love vibe of the weekend and love the point to point swim in the river. I hope we'll run into each other sometime over the next few months before heading that way.
Best,
Brett -

Here we go again. This will be my third full IM in addition to several 70.3 IM races. I have completed 12 marathons including 3 Bostons. I am also old and slow just turning 69 this past month. A former college swimmer, the fire still burns albeit a little dimmer. Good luck to you all. -

I will be there as well. Grabbed a charity spot with TeamEdith which I am super excited about. Have been training solo getting ready for some smaller races over the next few months leading into IMCHOO! First full Ironman so pretty nervous as well. Looking forward to the experience!

10 weeks away - how is everyone's training coming? I am deep in distance with 60 - 70 mile bike rides prepping for my 1st Ironman with long runs in the teens. What is most amazing about this experience is the amount of laundry and food. WOW!!!

Holy cow that was hot! But, a personal worst 15:00:13 will be sufficient to write off Tennessee on my 50 states marathon goal. -

Very hot, but still love the bike course! Those hills on the run are a challenge, but through a very supporting community!
Not sure I will go for a 6th IM, but if I do I will certainly consider returning to CHOO!!

When does IM Chattanooga fill up? I need to find out a little more info before signing up. Volunteered at IMMD this last weekend but found out I can not get that weekend off from work this next year. So I am trying to decide between doing IMCHOO, IMTX, or Cour De alene. -
