Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread
BY: alltom1 on 2010-12-24 9:46 AM
I'm visiting Wilmington and it's inspiring me to get a thread started for B2B 2011...
Who's in?
I've raced B2B the last three years - Two Halfs and the Full last year, and my experience has been really positive. There's been a good BT turnout for these races in the past...
Good luck to all with your training!

Are you in for 2011?
You bet..I didn't have the day I wanted this year, but even without the payback motivator I'd probably be registered. I have only good things to say about this race and will probably keep coming back until they won't have me anymore....

Not signed up till I recover from Christmas purging my bank account. Plan to do the full for my first Ironman, I have heard nothing but great things about this race. Cant wait.

Trying to put a relay team together. I've got a swimmer and I'll do the bike. Trying to persuade a friend to do the run
(he has done 2 marathons
). Probably can get him to commit to the half.
I'm doing IM Louisville 2011, so I'm looking to do B2B solo in 2012.

+1
B2B will be my first 140.6. I've made hotel reservations. I'm waiting to register until after the Ga 26.2 and a spring century. I've done 7 mary's and many century's, so not worried if I can do them, I just want to wait and see if I'm injury free.
I've done the YMCA Oly in Wilmington. Fantastic area.

Planning on doing B2B as my first IM. Based on reviews, seems like a great venue. Haven't signed up yet though... Does it normally sell out? At only 800 slots, seems they would go quick...

DIdnt sell out last year, had around 650 entrants. Prices dont go up till June 1 I believe, so you have plenty of time.

I'm in... I've done a couple HIM's, but the B2B this year will be my first full. I've never seen the course, so I would love any tips you guys who have been there before could throw my way.

General race entry is around 200ppl so far...There are for sure alot of folks who are planning on being there but haven't paid yet
(like me!
).
I'm still kind of in recovery mode from 2010 - Volume is about the same as last January but I've lost, like, 99% of my top end fitness..I have a few road races in the next few weeks and I'm hoping to race my way back. Outdoor ride this morning - only second or third time since B2B'10!! That's a little hard to type..My road bike literally has dust on it.
RaceLog is showing 18 BT'ers for B2B'11...AWESOME!

I'm in for this race, it will also be my first. Trying to curb my enthusiasm on training because it is still a ways off...

I'm in and signed up!

Did the half last year as my first half and will do the full this year as my first full!
I LOVED everything about this event last year! Though I have to admit I am curious to see how the run in the dark goes - my better half did the full last year and said that it was quite dangerous at some spots and pitch black! So I will have a headlamp in my run special needs bag!
So looking forward to it! And with it being a tad earlier this year than it was last year, I am hoping for a little higher water temps, though I thought it wasn't tooo bad in 2010.
Hope to see some BTs there again!

I'm glad to see that you are in too Mona!
I have a headlamp and a light that I clip on my running hat. I prefer the later actually but mostly because I love running in my hat :-

Training is going well. I completed my first marathon over the weekend and I have a HIM next month. After that, it's all about B2B!

Wow!! Then you are WAY ahead of me! I was a lazy bum over the winter and am just getting into training again! Wanted to do a marathon end of march, but have to cancel due to a business trip, so have to look for a new marathon! Planning fewer races this year - got engaged and will have my hands full with wedding preps and training!

But planning on doing Macon, GA HIM

I'm doing fewer races this year too. Just the marathon, HIM and IM. In between I plan to do Tour de Cure and Bike MS and some other organized rides.
You're doing Rock N Rollman? That has the coolest name!
