Overall Rank = 12/37
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 1/2
Pre-race routine:
Wife and I went out to a fundraiser the night before...not a good idea.Event warmup:
I was able to bike, run, and swim the warm up properly as this race started in one heat rather than waiting until the end of waves in Clydesdales. It helped me to be all loose for the start.
Swim
Comments:
The swim was ok but I still need to work on time trials to be able to get up and around other competitors. What would you do differently?:
NOT go out and party the night before.
T1
Comments:
I did great in T1. Since there is no timing station I assume a time of about 45 seconds but this could have been less. What would you do differently?:
I have this part down.
Bike
Comments:
I almost bit it big time trying to yank the rubber bands away from the bike shoes holding them to the bike. I have to remember that my balance is not 100% after the swim so be careful. My recovery was perfect to get up and out of the ditch but it had to have added 30 seconds to my time. What would you do differently?:
Don't crash.
T2
Comments:
Good T2
Run
Comments:
The only downer of the race was the low turn out. I found myself in the last mile only seeing two dudes in front of me by about 300 yards and one person behind me by the same. It was unmotivating as I figured no matter what I did my placement would be the same. Racing in bigger events at least adds some "racing" during the last leg of the run. What would you do differently?:
Run out the finish.
Post race
Event comments:
Nice local race. I hope more folks come out for the sprint in March.
