Pre-race routine:
Woke up. Cursed a little b/c it was raining pretty heavy at my house.Event warmup:
Walking back and forth to my car to get things I forgot. Did not want to do too much so I would have plenty for the race
Swim
Comments:
Pretty bad swim. I started out on the inside and was not ready for the start. The current kept pulling me into the buoys. I am not used to swimming in a crowd so I went out too fast and had to flip on my back at the turn around. On the way back I found my groove (and some waves too) Jen told me I was second out of the water in my group. I did not feel very strong though. What would you do differently?:
Check current, pre swim a little, and COME OUT SLOWER
T1
Comments:
Bad transition! I got all the way to the mounting line and realized I forgot my helmet. STUPID. everything else went good for the first time, but I lost 2 minutes on the bike because of the transition. Bike portion reflects T1What would you do differently?:
Practice, Practice, practice
Bike
Comments:
Bike killed me. I was still thinking about T1 and came out to hard. Did decent on the first big hill, but lost my concentration through the rest. Put a gel pack in my water and it was the nastiest thing ever! I drank no water so I was hurting by the end of itWhat would you do differently?:
Bring powerade and Practice. Got to ride harder
T2
Comments:
Good T2. I rode in my running shoes so all I had to do was rack it and take off. What would you do differently?:
Nothing, it was fast
Run
Comments:
Great run. it rained during the middle so that felt great. I wish they would have had mile markers out there b/c I could have gone harder. The way out seemed like forever. Once I got to the top of the hill, my bike legs left so that was good. I know its a slow time, but I felt greatWhat would you do differently?:
Work on getting faster. Endurance was there though
Post race
Warm down:
2 cold beersWhat limited your ability to perform faster:
Lack of knowledge/training. I only worked for 3 months for this event. I will be better next year. Need to work on mental aspect

Good job, I remember the rain on the run fondly. Hope to see you there in 06.
