Total Time = 1h 35m 26s
Overall Rank = 114/478
Age Group = clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 9/30
Pre-race routine:
got up at 5:30, grabbed my goffee and oatmeal/blueberries, and headed to the race site... about a 30 minute drive.Event warmup:
none. just stretched.
Swim
Comments:
was going too hard to breathe well... form was absolutely terrible... felt like i was gasping for breath every chance i could get... swam pretty straight though. had to stop and pretty much tread water at 1st buoy... need to figure out a better way to get through 1st turn. What would you do differently?:
more swim practice to get used to going hard.
T1
Comments:
seemed to take forever to get feet clean. also had a little trouble getting shoe straps on and tight. What would you do differently?:
might try to ride w/o socks. lost a ton of time sitting down to get socks/ shoes on. perhaps practice the "soes in pedals" method.
Bike
Comments:
felt pretty good on the bike, but it would have been better if i knew the route. tried to focus on proper method of passing and riding... per USAT rules. did well, and tried to maximize drafting benefits before the pass, then get right quickly. What would you do differently?:
pre-ride or drive the course.
T2
Comments:
seemed to take forever to get shoes on... the laces were too tight. everything else went fairly smoothely. What would you do differently?:
loosen the lock laces so shoes go on easier.
Run
Comments:
got a PR in my 5k time! awesome!!! but... HR was too hight for the run. should have been down about 3-5 bpm to be more comfortable. What would you do differently?:
lower HR a few bpm.
Post race
Warm down:
walked around a bit... drank a water, gatorade, ate a banana and some type of granola bar, and then walked/ stretched. What limited your ability to perform faster:
weight loss would improve overall time, but i was very happy with my performance.Event comments:
great race... very well organized. definitely one to hit next year!

thanks! this is only my 2nd race, so i wasn't too sure how i'd do. i was right where i expected on the bike, but both the swim and the run were really beyond my expectations. i was real happy with the day in general.
it looks like you did real well on your race too! a really great improvement form last year! great job!
