Pre-race routine:
Woke up at 6am and took a shower. Ate a piece of toast while I helped the wife get some songs on her iPod (she had some issues). Totally forgot to grab my watch. Luckily, they called out split times at the mile markers.Event warmup:
Some stretching. Caravaned with some friends from the hood so we stood around talking.
Run
Comments:
Grabbed some water at the first water station. Don't know why as I normally don't drink during my runs. I think this upset my stomach a little. I went out really good at the first mile. I think my split was 8:30. Around second mile, I was at 17:00. Still under a 9 min pace. Starting after the second mile, I slowed a bit and was slowly getting passed. At the 3rd mile marker, I had lost some ground and rolled in just past 27:00. From there, it was right at a 9:00 pace with mile 4 at 36:00, mile 5 at 45:00. I tried to push as hard as I could but had little left in the tank at that point as I slipped a little further back. Mile 6 was at 55:00 and the finish was 56:51What would you do differently?:
Right around mile 2 I was wishing I had started training earlier than late Dec. Overall I feel really good only having trained 10 weeks from 0 running miles.
Post race
Warm down:
Water, cookies, banana. What limited your ability to perform faster:
Lack of trainingEvent comments:
I really want to run this race next year to use it as a gauge.

Good job on the race. That's an impressive race time for someone with a "lack of training". I hope you continue to see improvements with your running.
