I would practice the transition.. i would have my mind made up about socks, jersey, etc

my training on the bike needs to increase and add some hills..

during the run i was pretty relaxed.. my legs took about a half mile to loosen for the bike ride.What would you do differently?:
I would have picked up the pace a little earlier. i held back, because going back to the finish line was uphill.

it was my first race... didn't have to many expectations... the coordination of the race was great.. it was a good time... this is a race i will continue to do

Congratulations on your 1st tri! Smithfield was my first too.
I have no expertise, but I'm guessing your transitions will be faster now that you know what to expect. (I spent most of the time waiting for my swim start watching everyone else do T1 and T2 - I was psyched out about them too.)

Rockin the Smithfield Tri! Great job man. It's all about the learning curve. No need to psych yourself out, it's a long season.
Remember that no decision made on Race day is a wrong one. Unless it's to quit. That's not allowed. :P
