Total Time = 24m 38s
Overall Rank = 38/232
Age Group = 40-45
Age Group Rank = 8/14
Pre-race routine:
It's a 1 hour 15 min drive to pick up my brother in law and then another 20 mins to the race site.Event warmup:
It was a good long walk from the parking lot to the registration station to pick up t shirts and numbers. Then back to the car to drop them off. then a walk over to the start line which we found eventually.
Run
Comments:
Somehow I got in the pack at the front so when they all went off like a shot so did I. I kept that silly pace up for about a mile and then slowed down to something more manageable. I think I only got passed by about half a dozen people. So I was quite pleased there. Overall 38 th I have to be pretty pleased with thatWhat would you do differently?:
Nothing I was out to enjoy myself !?! I probably shouldn't have gone off so fast.
Post race
Warm down:
A quick stretch to take my chip off and a walk over to the food stand. What limited your ability to perform faster:
The slippery wet ground. I think I prefer to run on more solid surfaces.Event comments:
Race was about 10 minutes late getting started ( by my watch anyway). Start line was not well sign posted. Course wasn't all that clear to follow. We were led around by a guy on a mountaiin bike. But It was fun.
Running 00:24:38 | 03.1 miles | 07m 57s min/mile Age Group: 0/14 Overall: 38/232 Performance: Average Course: Just like school cross country! Cold drizzly and wet! Eurgh! those are some memories I had repressed for 25 years. . The run was on grass and leaf covered trails. Just under half a mile into the race there was a very steep hill. The rest of the way was "gently rolling" Keeping cool Average Drinking Just right Weight change: % Overall: Good Mental exertion [1-5] 3 Physical exertion [1-5] 4 Good race? Ian! You were there!! We looked and looked for any sign of the British flag and didn't see any!! You must have been mere feet from us at the start! Argh. Anyway, looks like you had a great race! Congrats! I'm working on my race report, but need to get the pics downloaded off the camera! I'm so sorry we missed you!!

I'm pretty bummed about the fact I didn't get to meet up with you all. Last time I saw you was at the lifetime fitness in T2 and you were looking pretty tired. I wouldn't have recognised a fresh runner. Perhaps I should have looked for a Hawaiian sun tan?

Ha ha! Sadly, my Hawaii tan has faded.I am very bummed that we missed each other too! I just told Mark this morning that I felt so bad that you drove all that way! Sorry I wasn't more coordinated about the whole thing. You did have a great run though! That first hill was interesting all right! My hamtrings are feeling it today. I usually run on a pretty flat road, LOL.

i was pretty bummed too. sorry about the costume mix up. we should have had some other way of recognizing each other. relying on clothing alone this time of year is unreliable since the weather can vary so much. oh well. you drove so far to do this race. glad you still had a good time. how did you brother in law do?

No problem on the costume mix up we'll know better next time. I thought it was going to be easier to pick you out.
Bro-in-law finished 21st. He was supposed to drag me along to low 7's but he went on the "G" of GO and I went on the "O" and I never saw him again
