Hi all. I may end up running more than I planned (left achilles willing) as I just came across a really fun looking 10K, military base obstacle course (mud pits, tires, rope climbs, wall climbs) on 11/8 that I'm going to train for.
What's everyone else's motivation for their running goals this month? -

Hi all. I'm in for 40 miles this month. I need to keep up the running through the colder months and this challenge will help. The fall is my favorite time of the year to run.
A little bit about myself:
I'm 39 years old and have a 9 yr old boy and a 6 yr old girl. I also have a wonderful wife who is supportive of my training. To keep it that way I try to do all my training in the morning before work.
I had done 3 marathons before I got into triathlons, and I would always be battling shin splints or some other nagging injury. I thought triathlons would be a good change because of the cross training. I've been doing tris for 3 years now. I've done 4 Sprints, 1 Olympic, and a Half Ironman. I've got no plans to do an Ironman in the near future. I might when my kids graduate or don't want to hang out with me anymore, which will probably come sooner than I'd like. I'm a middle of the pack racer.

Hi everyone! My goal this month is 80 miles. I'm inbetween seasons and training plans right now. Finished up my Oly training with my first Oly on 9/6 and start marathon training on 11/16 for my first marathon in April. I want to go into my marathon training with a good base, so this challenge will be great to keep me motivated to run. I also have a half mary on 10/12.
About me... I'm 38 with a great husband (gslye here on bt) who also tri's, and two daughters 18 & 20 who don't want to hang around with me too much
I travel all over the Pacific Northwest with gslye for his job, so I'm usually on the road or in an RV Park somewhere. On occasional weekends I get to go home to beautiful Kalispell, MT. Right now we're in Libby, MT with limited internet. I'll try to check in as much as possible, but I might be a little scarce for awhile.
Happy training everyone!

I'm Steve, my motivation is my cholestral numbers. Need to bring them way down.
I will do my first tri sometime after the first of the year.
I am down 20 pounds since finding this website and with the encouragement of the team in the last challenge.
I am looking forward to that encouragement again.

Greeting Monsters
I am in for 60 miles this month . My tri season is pretty much over so I would like to use all that cardio fitness and channel it into faster 10ks and Half marathon's this fall .
I am in my fourth year of doing triathlons and think its a great way to stay fit. Winter here in Los Angeles is a better time to run as our weather cools down .
Started this morning with a short Brick at the gym ,I am closer to my goal by a mile. So 59 to go.
Plan is to be flexible but include (once a week) long runs , speed workouts , hills and tune up races. Also swim and bike once a week for cross training and recovery.
Happy Trails

Greetings, fellow Monsters!
I'm Laura, 27, married to a Marine (tlnewman30 here on BT - he's on a competing team for this challenge so let's kick some butt, shall we??). Just moved to CO from PA (courtesy of the Marines) this past June and we LOVE it. I especially love running in dry air (no East-coast humidity), even if it IS a little low in the oxygen department.
Anyhow, my goal for the month is 75 miles. The highlight this month will be the Denver Half Marathon on 10/19 - hoping for a PR.
And I'm already almost 10% done, since I ran 7.12 miles this morning.

Hello Massives!
I am a new BT member and glad for a challenge. I have been running sporadically for the past year so this will keep me consistent. My last tri was 5 or so years ago, and I've never gone beyond a sprint distance. Since I moved into the 50 age group this year I would like to get it in gear again. My goal is 45 miles for the month. I got 3.5 in today. For my teammate with the cholesterol issues- my BP & cholesterol med doses have been lowered every year since I started training so just keep at it.
Go GG in your first tri! The sense of accomplishment is huge and won't be forgotten.
