Men's May Challenge Thread

May Men v Women Challenge
It's MAY! For many of us, the weather is getting warmer and Tri season is almost here. Are you ready to SWIM and BIKE and RUN?
For this challenge, you can set goals in ONE to FOUR activities.
The categories are: SWIM, BIKE, RUN and "OTHER."
You can participate in one activity, or two, or three or four. It's up to you!
For example: You can swim, bike, run and strength train..... Or you can swim and run..... Or you can bike.... Etc.
YOU define the activities. (Does 'swimming' include kick drills? Does 'running' include elliptical work?) YOU decide, and set your goals accordingly....
YOU set the goals. Only want to swim once? Only want to bike once? YOU decide, and set your goals accordingly.
To participate:
Sign up on this Google spreadsheet:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0An7ZkKfHG1L1dE9EZG4wOFd0TUw...
You will need to enter the following information:
email address: btchallenge@gmail.com
password: challengeforum
Chose Men or Women's and add your information there
If you can't access the spreadsheet:
Scroll to the bottom, and look at the bottom right corner. If it says, "edit this page," click that link and enter the info above.
This will be a Team Challenge.
At the end of the month:
The winning team(s) will display a signature line: "My team won the May Men v Women Challenge!"
The losing team has to display an avatar of a leg shot (their real legs!) for the month of June
Signature lines will be displayed for the month of May. After that, it's your choice whether to leave it, or remove it.
Team spreadsheets will be put on Google Spreadsheets. Each team member will update his/her own info.
The Challenge will begin on May 1st, and end on May 31st.
In the event of injury/illness, you may request to be dropped from the challenge, without penalty.
If you achieve 100% of your goal before the month is over, you may raise your goal.
At the end of the month, the winning team will be the team with the highest completion rate.
Smack talking:
-- Smack talking is not mandatory, but may be done.
-- Smack talk is different from a personal attack. If you aren’t sure what the difference is, err on the side of caution and do not post the comment. (Keep in mind that real people are reading your comments!)
-- Smack talking is not to be taken personally. If you get upset about a post, ignore it and move on.
-- If you find a post offensive, and cannot simply ignore it: Walk away from the computer until you feel better, OR better yet, go for a good workout. A hard workout does wonders for your perspective.
The ultimate goal of this Challenge is to push yourself in an activity (or activities), to work out, to meet fellow BTers (virtually or otherwise), and to have some fun!
Hopefully, this Challenge will give you a little extra incentive and motivation to succeed at your goals – whatever they may be.
Welcome to the Challenge! -

Alright guys, this is it. Our manliness has been challenged. We need to get out there and show those women that we can do this! So far they have more people and more posts but we can do this. Bring along your friends, fans, drinking buddies, and anyone else that can live up to the challenge. Lets rock this challenge for the month of May!

Ok Bill, I'll bite. Not sure how much I will get in. Busy month with work, getting ready for a graduation party, and my first two tris ever, but what the heck.
Guess my wife will have to mow the yard again this month...........

Of course I'm in...but my goals will be fairly laxed...I'm racing three times this month...8th (sprint), 16th (Oly), 23rd (40k TT)...so my training volume is going to be laxed.
My 4th goal will be race based. Need some time to figure that out.
This weekend will be bike focused...probably a 45-60 mile bike and a 3.5 mile run brick on Saturday...then a 45 mile bike...and a swim later in the afternoon on Sunday.
Ok boys...represent... -

I added my goals for the month. This month I increased the number of sessions for swimming and I will be focusing a lot more on runs to get ready for the k-100 relay in June.
Today, swim and a long run.
Tomorrow, a bike and a short run. -

Got in a 8.5k run on some technical trails this morning. I don't think there is anything I like more then a good trail run. -

Wow, the women have double our posts so far. I hate to give in on the secondary challenge so early but they're just kickin' our tails on that part. We'll have to make sure we beat them on the main challenge to make up for it. I know I for one don't want to look at a bunch of hairy legs for a month. I would hate to get physically ill every time I log on to BT.
