February Challenge Announcement
BY: D001 on 2008-01-25 8:51 PM
February "Super Bowl XLII" Challenge
You voted for it! Two poll choices clearly stood out: "Running only" and "Just like the January Challenge." Therefore:
For February, you may choose to BIKE or SWIM or RUN.
To participate:
Sign up on this spreadsheet:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=puhAA5NRKHA3DR7JvlpFtbQ&inv=...
You will need to enter the following information:
email address: btchallenge@gmail.com
password: challengeforum
If you can't access the spreadsheet, reply to this message and state:
1) Your goal: BIKE or SWIM or RUN. (You may pick ONE.)
2) Your goal in hours or distance (miles, km, meters or yards).
3) Are you are willing to be a Team Captain?
This will be a Team Challenge.
The winning team(s) will display a signature line: "My team won the February Challenge!"
All other (losing) teams will display the avatar of the team that LOSES Super Bowl XLII. Avatars will be displayed for the month of March. After that, it's your choice whether to leave it, or remove it.
Team spreadsheets will be put on Google Spreadsheets. Each team member will update his/her own info. However.....
Each team will select a team captain. The team captain will be responsible for making sure that each team member updates the spreadsheet by the reporting dates, and/or will enter information for people who are unable to update the spreadsheet directly.
The Challenge will begin on February 1st, and end on February 29th.
In the event of injury/illness, you may request to be dropped from the challenge, without penalty.
If you achieve 100% of your goal before the month is over, you may request to raise your goal.
At the end of the month, the winning team will be the team with the highest completion rate.
All training must be logged in your BT Training Log, by SATURDAY evening, your time. If it’s not logged and reported, it didn’t happen!
For reporting, the weeks will run as follows:
Feb 1 - 9
Feb 10 - 16
Feb 17 - 23
Feb 24 - 29
Please note: The week will end on Saturday. This will allow me to compile the results on Sunday.
Smack talking:
-- Smack talking is not mandatory, but may be done.
-- Smack talk is different from a personal attack. If you aren’t sure what the difference is, err on the side of caution and do not post the comment. (Keep in mind that real people are reading your comments!)
-- Smack talking is not to be taken personally. If you get upset about a post, ignore it and move on.
-- If you find a post offensive, and cannot simply ignore it: Walk away from the computer until you feel better, OR better yet, go for a good workout. A hard workout does wonders for your perspective.
The ultimate goal of this Challenge is to push yourself in an activity, to work out, to meet fellow BTers (virtually or otherwise), and to have some fun!
Hopefully, this Challenge will give you a little extra incentive and motivation to succeed at your goal – whatever it may be.
Welcome to the February Challenge!

This will be my first challenge. I am a run/walker at this point who is going to follow the Marathoning for Mortals training plan for a half marathon in preparation for the Minnie marathon (9K) at WDW on May 4.
My goal for the month of February will be 8 hours run/walking.

I'm in for 100 miles in February. It's lower than January's challenge, but I'm going to be tapering for March.

I'm in and am going to swim, in preparation of the HIM relay that I'm doing in April - and am doing the swim portion. Not sure of my yardage yet. Will get back to you on that one.

I can't believe I'm saying this. Sign me up for running. 40 miles. (I think I just threw up in my mouth a little) Thanks for doing this, Dee. You are a super hero to run a challenge and do all the things you have to do at work as well.

I will be running again this month as I am trying to up my running mileage. I did the run Challenge in Oct. for 40 miles. Let's say for February I try 60.
60 miles in a month is doable I think.

I'm going to do run again - I think I will stick with my 100 miles since February in Wisconsin isn't the best for outdoor running and there is only so much dreadmill I can take. -

Thanks! When life gets really busy, you think of "shortcuts." This was one of them. LOL
If people enter their info directly on the spreadsheet, it saves me from having to type it in (and hope that I got it correct). It seems to be working so far. (I know some people can't access Google spreadsheets, but they can still sign up here.)
I see you requested the "chatters." Oh, I am so surprised! LOL!

Just tried signing up on the spreadsheet, but for some reason it loads a little over half of it and then freezes my computer.
Since this challenge was so good at getting me on my bike in January (the whole focus on your limiters thing), I'm signing up again. A little accountability goes a long way towards getting me on the drainer. I'd like to sign up for 180 miles for February.
