April Challenge!
BY: D001 on 2013-03-31 11:58 PM
For this challenge, you can set goals in ONE to FOUR activities. You can participate in one activity, or two, or three or four. It's up to you!... You define the activities. You set the goals. YOU decide, and set your goals accordingly.
To participate:
Sign up on this Google spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0An7ZkKfHG1L1dHY5MFAxRlZ...
You will need to enter the following information to access the spreadsheet:
email address: btchallenge@gmail.com
password: challengeforum2
If you can't access the spreadsheet:
Scroll to the bottom, and look at the bottom right corner. If it says, "edit this page," click that link and enter the info above.
If there are enough participants, this will be a team challenge. Otherwise, this will be an individual challenge, with occasional taserings updates provided throughout the month.
The ultimate goal of this Challenge is to push yourself in an activity (or activities), to work out, to meet fellow BTers (virtually or otherwise), and to have some fun!
Hopefully, this Challenge will give you a little extra incentive and motivation to succeed at your goals – whatever they may be.
Welcome to the Challenge!
- Dee

I'd like to join in the fun! I know I've got to get on the bike so that'll be one of my challenges. I'll give thought today to what else I want to add and enter it in the spreadsheet by tonight. Thanks for putting this together, Dee!

I want in. I need accountability on the swim. The swim is keeping me from entering a lot of tri's and enjoying the ones I do. My goal is to swim at least 4 times and hopefully 5 times per week with each session being a minimum of 1 mile. Hopefully by the end of April, I will be able to swim 2 miles in a session. Since I'm a non-swimmer is that unrealistic? -

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
There stood Dee in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself, " Another Challenge ?
This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"
Then she revealed the taser and she showed me the way
There were voices down the chatroom,
I thought I heard them say...

If you have access i would recommend working with master group or a swim coach , This will make your time in the pool much more productive . The coaches i have worked with said 3 swims a week is plenty for age grouper . You are better to practice good form than power through workouts . Good form is essential on the longer events . There are online ressourses too of course but nothing beats getting a coach for feedback and drills & workout advice.

Thanks for the advice Paul, and I'm trying to absorb it all. I need to start going to a master's swim and will, i just feel like I can't keep up with them. I went 1 time for private swim instruction, during their swim practice by mistake, wow they scared me off, they were INTENSE but that is what I need. Thanks for reminding me of them and making me do it!

Can you find a master's swim program? If so, my advice would be to join it. They'd give you structured workouts and drills, and help improve your technique. A big part of swimming is becoming comfortable in the water.
I realllllly wish there was a master's swim program around here. Of course, that would require that someone build a pool...... *sigh*...

Well, gee. I should have just kept reading the thread.
Although, the extra post did help boost my post count.

Then she revealed the taser and she showed me the way
There were voices down the chatroom,
I thought I heard them say...
Tasers on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And Dee said "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device"
And in the Tasering chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember,
I was Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax, " said the night man,
"We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! "

I want in... My name is David and this is my first challenge this year. I've missed the competition and accoutbility.
I was just checking out my totals from last year and I am well off the mark. Hopefully a little tasering is just what the doctor ordered.
