Show us your ride/run!
BY: Kido on 2010-06-19 10:15 PM
I have been wanting to start this thread up for some time and I hope it gets legs...
Every area has it's own beauty (even Las Vegas!). Let's see some of your local ride/runs. It may help give ideas to people if they ever visit!
I hope you play along and I will go first...Pics from my typical day to day ride!
Heading out of town toward Red Rock Park.
Almost to the Park and Scenic loop.
IN the park and how it got it's namesake - the Red Rocks.
Me at the scenic overlook. It may not look like it, but it's a climb to get here. 3000 vert from my house. Behind my fat head is the Las Vegas Valley! You can't see the strip as it's behind the red rocks at the left of the picture.
The fast descent out of the park!

This is exactly where I'm going tomorrow (maybe you've passed me before). I'll try and take some pics of Lake Mead rides later in the week.

After looking at those pics, I'd be embarrassed to post any thing from my rides and runs. The scenery looks amazing.

And then we have this, too... weather.

This was a race I did a few years ago called the Sawtooth Century. 100 miles and over Galena (the mountain in the pic) twice. It was crazy.
That's only half the pack:

This isn't local, but we've already got one picture of Kansas fields.
Bonus points for the first one to guess what state these pics were taken in.

Here are some shots I did not take (credit to Josh Metzler from the Roanoke Times) of one of the coolest rides in around. It was written up in the local paper several years ago http://www.roanoke.com/outdoors/biking/road/wb/4891
Here is the tower that the article is talking about
some shots from the ride (originally appeared in the Dan Casey article).
I will post more rides later.

Not the greatest pic, but this was on my commute (I could go off road or on-road) to my old job. Still part of my standard MTB ride when the fat tire bike gets lonely for some Dave time.
FYI: This is where they shot the beach landing scene in Amistad.

With the chamisa that looks an awful lot like New Mexico but it could be any of the four corners states.
