Tebow!

Going by his record, Tim Tebow is the second best QB in the NFL (we all know who's #1.)

Some people love him, some think he's a joke.

Where do you stand?

My opinion? He's terribly, TERRIBLY good!

Being a lifelong Bronco fan I neither love him nor do I hate him.  He is 4-1 and could possibly be 5-0 if Fox and the OC had put together this type of game planning for the Detroit game instead of trying to make him a pocket QB.

I love his 4-1 record, his attitude about it never being over until 60 are played, and what he does for his teammates to believe in him and themselves.  My love for the Broncos and him making the Broncos winners equals my love for Tebow.  They should have played him from week 1 on and dumped Orton during the pre-season to see what they actually have in him.  Maybe this off-season they can work on his mechanics and pocket presense more but for now you have to run the offense he is capable of and see where it gets you.  They are back in the playoff hunt in the AFC and for that I guess I love him!

All this being said, I don't think he is a long term QB fix for Denver.

Have you heard whether or not he has already been doing this?  I don't really follow Tebow, but everyone has heard about his mechanical problems.  It seems he would have been doing this on his own, QB camp type thing, since he graduated from UF, if not before.

Last night I was more pulling for Tebow than I was for the JETS. I hate the JETS, so not a good game to ask me if I liked him!

Tebow is a bad QB as it stands now. Right now he is getting away with it while playing powerhouses like the Jets. He is fun to watch, but unless he can learn how to see an open man, he'll be done soon.

A 45% completion percentage is terrible and his 10Td/3 turnover isn't too bad.

I think he will be a mediocre scrambling QB at best.

In general, I’m not a fan of people who are constantly proselytizing about their religion, regardless of what their religion is, and I vehemently believe that G-d does not care who wins football games.

Having said that, I find Tebow hard to dislike. I think he’s a genuinely good guy who honestly wants to make a positive contribution to society. I could do without some of his preachiness but I think it comes from a good place.

And he’s fun to watch. He’s one of those guys who’s going to get the reputation of a player who you should never bet against.

Oh really? 5-5 speaks otherwise.

He's good for his team. The Broncos play defense well enough to give him a chance. Especially in a low scoring division like the AFC west is this year where no one seems to score more than 21 points in a game. If they go against a scoring machine like New Orleans, he'll not be able to keep up.

He's a-typical and it remains to see if defense figure him out and shut him down to failure as Steve Young went off on. Guy is clutch; no doubting that.

I will start by saying that for many reasons I can’t stand the guy, one of them being that he played for the Gators and that team makes me gag.  Football wise, he can’t play quarterback, at least in the long run.  A 45% completion rate will eventually catch up to him, plus at some point he will need to look up and try to find an open receiver. 

Yeah he is winning now, but if he continues doing it teams will start preparing their game plans for his style and once that happens it will be over for him.  What he is doing now is very similar to what the dolphins did back in 2009 with the wildcat formation, it took teams by surprise and they were successful formation that season, once teams started preparing for that it was another story, check to see how successful they were with that formation in 2010, and now they don’t even try it.

as a QB he still needs to improve (and I believe he will) however I am a fan for his competitive fire and positive example.  In the sea of professional athletes there are only a few good noted examples for me to share with my children.  I do not want them to focus and idolize any athlete.  Also, I recognize there are other good examples but due to his high profile status, Tebow provides them with an example of someone that has fame but maintains his beliefs.

Firstly I would like to see where he's proselytizing. When he's asked about his religious beliefs he does not hold back, however I do not see him trying to convert people on a daily basis.  In fact I really don't see the "preachiness" everyone talks about.

Secondly, it's his second year.  First year as a starter.  I think people need to wait and see.  He's very polarizing (look at the two poll options....) but really should not be.  Why can't we just give him his props where he deserves them and criticism him on the areas he needs to work on and then let time tell if he's going to be a good or bad QB.

Personally I love the guy as a player (disclosure I'm a Gator).  He's got a great worth ethic and is super for morale.  As a pro level QB however I think he needs more time to develop before we can make a judgement.

I watched an ESPN show on how they worked with him prior to the draft.  I think he got shortchanged this year with the coaching staff change in Denver and then the lockout.  If Fox & Co had a chance to see what his strengths and weaknesses were all winter long they either would have cut him or traded Orton sooner and just worked with him as much as possible.

I don't remember it being successful for a season - they beat the Pats with it and everyone went gaga over it.  Rex Ryan has had 4 weeks of game film to prepare for him and still let him go 95 yards for a game winning TD with less than 5 minutes to play in the game.

I am a homer for sure and always felt give Tebow 1 year and see what he can do - no good cut him - he won't be the first 1st round QB that failed in the NFL.  Denver (Elway and Fox) felt Orton would cut it enough for 1 year and then they would draft a new guy this Spring (their guy not Josh's) and go from there.  They blew it with the Orton deal - now he leaves via Free Agency and they get nothing.

A coaches desire to win immediately for job security often outweighs the logic behind some of their decisions.  He is a worse QB than Orton from a pro stand point - but his record is a lot better than Orton's and in the end all that matters is SCOREBOARD.

I don't hate Tebow at all, just think he won't be a long term QB unless something changes. So far he's beat one team over .500 at this point. He's also squeaked by the Dolphins and crushed by the Lions where he went 18/39 with an INT. He needs work.

The Lions is not on him - that is on the Coaches.  We all know he is not a Pro-Style QB and if you are going to start him give him a chance.  Fox even said it the other day - he has no chance in a typical NFL offense so they are playing to his strengths.  Seems like a pretty smart move right now doesn't it?
