How much did your accountant charge you?
BY: Guest on 2006-04-25 4:56 PM
I got a big refund on my taxes, but my accountant charged me twice what he quoted in December, AND charged me for the initial meeting we had. Did I mention that I found multiple mistakes he made and my federal taxes had to be done twice, and my state taxes three times??? He did give me a $50 discount, but I'm still a little aggrevated!

In a former life I was a tax preparer in a public accounting firm. We never considered it in bad taste for a client to ask to see our diplomas/licenses/certificates. You should ask to see his...you really need to know if it was signed by Daffy Duck.
That many errors seems odd in this computerized world. May I ask how many schedules your return contained?

My accountant charged me a mere $2,500 to tell me that I owed $35,000. Now THAT'S takin' it in the pooper from Uncle Sam!
(I'll be fair to her... it was for the personal, sub-s corp. and the 4 seperate LLC's used for real estate investments)

in my opinion a good tax accountant would also set you up with a strategy for this next year, how you can estimate and minimize your liability.... did she do that? did you ask?

Special circumstances prevailed for 2005 tax year.... because of the divorce we agreed to sell several of our investment properties toward the end of the year which created all that tax liability (capital gains). This year ...no business...no LLC's just my very own personal taxes that I can actually do all by myself....

same way here, they; as i said; are my dream company if i go into personal tax. i met one of their recruiters and she was awesome, i have to say my teacher was great BC she told them good stuff about me.... i really like them as a company, and i hope to intern with them so i can see more of their fine company. that would be weird if we both ended up working for them.... dont tell them that my spelling sucks....
