BY: thur008 on 2010-05-01 12:58 AM
Hi,
Im just getting into triathlons. Training has been going well but now looking for a training partner to meet up once or twice a week to make sure I do a long ride and and not slacking off!
Preferably in the St Kilda/SouthMelbourne/Port Melbourne area who would be great as thats the area I live and would be easiest but im open to wherever.
If anyone is interested, feel free to get in touch.

Hi thur008,
If you get no luck here, it could be as there aren't that many of us from Vic on here, I'm down the bay myself and rarely go into the city myself unless for a race.
Try transitions.org.au which is an Aussie based forum and you might have a bit more luck there

Hi!!
Have you looked for cycling/running/tri clubs/groups in the area?
I am around the Dandenong area myself, best way to find people with the same interests is find the club!!
Same as the others, nice to see another Victorian here :D

You think you can, or you think you can't.
Either way, you're right.

Hi there
I'm in St Kilda and fairly new to Triathlons. I did 3 fun Tri's and 3 Sprint Tri's last summer.
(Gatorade series
)
I'm looking for a Cycling buddy.
I have 2 little kids so I can go on the weekends while Dad looks after them.
I usually head down to Mordy by myself and it is such a slog!
I'm not fast....but I'm not too slow either!
(i hope
)
Anyway, let me know if you want to hook up.
Annie

I'll throw my hat in the ring.
I've done 3 sprint Tri's so far
(Shep Hex and Gatorades
) and the usual Around the Bay and Kinglake. Just did the Whittlesea Challenge a week early.
Every Sunday I either do the 1in20
(Dandenongs hill climb
) or I head down to Mornington and return
(62km round trip
). I do it in about 2.5 hours. I start at the corner of Parker's Road and Beach Road
(Parkdale
) to avoid the crush and rush, and usually around 9am.
Happy to join up with a group.
Doug

Hey Michelle. What day of the week are you planning to do your long ride?

I can be flexible really, Sundays at the moment but as I say am happy to change that.
I got onto a group
cadencewomen.com.au and they do rides from Seaford so I am thinking of heading out with them. They have 3 different groups - people new to riding in traffic (me!) a middle group and a competitive group. I like that sound of it actually.
When are you doing yours?

I checked out their website. The ride on a Saturday. That will not be suitable for me. I was hoping to do my rides mid week so as not to impact on the time with my family. At the moment I do my long runs on a Sunday wit a group. After Run Melb that will finish so may have another look at my schedule then.

If you want to meet somewhere midweek I'm keen. Probably Wednesday is best for me. I have an appointment in Brighton tomorrow so I plan to ride along the paths for an hour or so just to get out of the house

I'll look at my program over the school holidays. I can probably move things around and do my ride on a Wednesday. Leave it with me.
A friend of mine rode on Beach road today. I'm waiting on an answer as to how the traffic was midweek. I'll let you know. Or if you have any other ideas, I'm open to them.

I'm happy to do beach rd - hopefully it isn't too crazy away from peak hours. School hols will be more windtrainer sessions for me I think as I won't be able to get out like I can with kids home, hubby is crazy busy with work too so no point trying to work around him.

I'll be on the trainer too. Luckily they are only 1:30 sessions so it wont be complete torture. I have some of the latest US Biggest Loser episodes saved on Foxtel IQ so I'll stay entertained.

Hi Girls
I live in St Kilda and can do Wednesday rides along beach road. Starting at MSAC at about 9.15 down to Mordi and return by 11.30ish. I have to pick up my kids by 12. Otherwise I'm always up for a ride on the weekend just have to shuffle Partner and kids around sometimes. I'm not overly fast but can do roughly 50kms. I'm doing Run Melbourne Half M also so have toned down my riding the last week
(sore legs
). So, maybe after that we could organise a ride together.

I'm keen, the more the merrier. I need to leave from Brighton though as I am coming from the Dandenong's and this is the closest spot but I won't get there till around 9.45am anyway.

I'm don't know what time I can get there. I have to drop Jett off at school and then it depends on the traffic. Coming from Eltham I'm predicting about 10:00.

10 is good for me as it means I don't need to rush so much.
