1)Depending on your fitness level...If you are doing and Oly Aug. 18, I would skip the Aug. 11 race.
2)If the Alberta Challenge is anything like last year, Miquelon was full of weeds...a brutal swim. Every stroke, your hands/arms were in the weeds.

I have done the St Albert sprint last year the course isn't to bad the run is flat the bike ride has a climb in it towards the end which isn't steep but it is long. i was thinking of doing the Alberta challenge myself but if the lake is full of weeds i might look into another one. i am also thinking of doing the Drayton valley sprint. -

nothing wrong with the St Albert sprint, it was well organized with enough volunteers. the swim was good not to many people together in a lane,(i have been in overcrowded pools) the bike ride out and back was clearly marked with volunteers in the right places ( i just had problems with the gradual slope towards the end that seemed to go on forever) and the run was flat but OK for the rest. I just wanted to give ''Ktieulie'' an idea of the race if he decides to do it. i will send you a pm tomorrow with a couple of ideas.

Not planning any races in 2013 as I have just finished rehabbing from a patellofemoral injury. I will probably end up running a 10k and/or doing a sprint or oly if everything continues to go well. -

Hello!
New to this whole triathlon business.. Planning on the Olympic in Fort MacLeod on August 18, 2013 (I think is the date). Would like to do a closed water swim sprint (or shorter) type event sometime between April and July... Just to get a feel for the event and overall transitions before tackling the Fort MacLeod.Thoughts? Thank you!

Hey Egger, I was looking at the Sylvan Lake Tri and it appears as though the "Sprint" is more of an "Olympic"! The swim is only 1km but the bike is 60km and the run 10km. Unless I missed something on the web page for the "Sprint"! I was thinking of doing that one myself but wasn't to sure about the extra distances on the three legs. If you get a chance, cause like I say I may have missed something, could you confirm for me? Thanks! Kirby

Looks like I can answer my own question... the race I was looking at is in July and the race your thinking of doing is in May! Kirby
