Swim
  • 17m 6s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

More swim warm up.
Transition 1
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

I was riding with toe cages and my running shoes, so I had to put shoes on before grabbing my bike. Then once I jumped on the bike I had a hard time getting into the cages.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe next time I'll figure out a way to get my shoes taped to the bike and in the cagesHad a hard time getting my feet into the toe cages.
Bike
  • 54m 22s
  • 17.5 miles
  • 19.31 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Stay in a lower gear and keep my cadence high.
Transition 2
  • 00m 27s
Comments:

I already had my running shoes on, because I didn't have cycling shoes yet. I still am 10ish seconds slower than the good guys on this transition. Jumping off the bike. I hit the ground really hard on my heal, and I felt like I was going to fall. Big shock through my body that felt like someone had just punched me. With no shoes on, I'm sure I would have destroyed my foot. Then I ended up forgetting to take off my helmet when I bent down for my number belt, and I had to stop and go back.
What would you do differently?:

Practice that running off the bike move a lot before my next race.
Run
  • 21m 3s
  • 3.12 miles
  • 06m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt really good during the entire run, but I did find myself holding back a little to make sure I could finish without walking. Brick workouts really helped a lot getting my legs to transition from the bike to the run.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder on mile 2.
Post race
Warm down:

running around looking for my wife to cheer her on. :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Riding on a mountian bike!

Event comments:

The venue was beautiful, and it's nice to have a race in my hometown. Lots of friends and family to celebrate completing my first Triathlon with.
