Pre-race routine:

Got up at 6am had some oatmeal and a banana and headed to the event. Arrived on site at 7:15.
Event warmup:

250M Swim and a light jog.
Swim
  • 14m
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 52s / 100 meters
Comments:

Water was pretty warm. First big group open water swim.
What would you do differently?:

Next time I won't line up in the middle of the front of the pack. It was a clobberfest for the first 200M
Transition 1
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

Transition felt good. Got out and put on my flip flops as the transition zone was stony. This was a smart move. Suit came off easy and got my socks on and shoes on pretty quick. Glasses, helmet and I grabbed the bike and went. Ate some Clif Bloks on the jog out of transition.
What would you do differently?:

Undo the velcro straps on the shoes.
Bike
  • 56m 34s
  • 30 kms
  • 31.82 km/hr
Comments:

Good ride, made it up 6th line well. Was pretty conservative until I got back onto 6th line at 15th Sideroad on the way back. Picked up the pace a bit then. Fun ride down 6th line. Came into the transition too fast and wiped out.
What would you do differently?:

Slow down sooner coming into T2 so I don't fall on my ass in front of 250 people.
Transition 2
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

Aside from the crash coming into T2 it was good. Probably was 30 seconds picking myself off the ground and making sure I wasn't injured.
What would you do differently?:

Not crash. Slow down more before jumping off bike.
Run
  • 40m 56s
  • 7.5 kms
  • 05m 28s  min/km
Comments:

Run felt slow but maintaing a sub 5:30/KM pace the whole way. After I felt like I could have gone faster but I was happy with the pace. Had gas left to pick up the pace the last 500M
What would you do differently?:

Probably could have run faster. Especially after the turnaround.
Post race
Warm down:

Short jog 500M and some light stretching. Hot bath and cold shower when I got home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Myself. First triathlon and didn't want to blow up do I was pretty conservative. Swim and bike pace was good but I think I could have run faster.

Event comments:

Didn't stay for the post race. I was cold and everything was wet due to the rain.
