Pre-race routine:

We went up to Geneva the night before to go to packet pick-up and the prerace meeting. Jill, Beth, Austin, and I went out to dinner. Staying in Geneva worked out really well. We were up early, grabbed some bagels at the hotel, and got over to the start in plenty of time. We were team #3 so we got our bracelet early on, hit the porta potties and chatted with other teams before the start.
Event warmup:

I didn't do a warm-up and probably should have for this first leg.

Comments:

This event was an absolute blast! I felt like I was running with old friends even though I had just met three of my teammates and only sort of knew the other 3.

My first leg was not very hilly - I would call it rolling, though there was a flight of stairs in it! From what I hear this flight of stairs is also on the run course of Musselman. I tried to race this leg as much as I could. Ericka wasn't expecting me to be wearing the black shirt, so I had to yell to her as I came to the exchange. I then got right on the bus to be taken to the third exchange point.

My second leg was interesting. My splits were 8:10, 11:48!, and 8:04. The elevation profile looked like a wedge - we went down a pretty steep hill past a very pretty waterfall and then straight back up a GIANT hill. This was the prettiest of my 3 legs.

My third leg climbed for the first mile and then was pretty much flat except for a little climb up to the exchange. I was pretty much by myself on this leg.
What would you do differently?:

Not much other than maybe do a little warm-up before the first leg.
Post race
Warm down:

None - hopped in the car to get to the next exchange point.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not sure - I did run pretty hard during the week prior, but my legs felt pretty good on the day of the race.

Event comments:

This event was SO much fun. It seemed well organized for the most part. They could've used a few more porta-potties and a few more course markings, but for a first time event it seemed well run. We knew ahead of time they we needed to be self-sufficient in terms of food/drink. Water and Heed were provided at some of the stops.

I can't comment on the other legs since I didn't run them, but my teammates seemed to have as much fun as I did. We were happy to be just ahead of the middle of the pack.
